god damn gold in my book!:D your a true asset to this board. your knowledgeful, and helpful that commands respect from us at the boards. i wanna say thanks thus far..keep up the good work man!

btw if i cough or laugh i will be crouched on the floor for a while. i did your ab routine last night i did 5x5 wothout weight, man i am feelin it. this ab routine is it for me i will stick to it like glue until me abs are visible

LOL, I thought we were going to have the rumble in the jungle at EF.

thanks bro, I really appreciate the feedback. Glad you are feeling the ab routine, its beautiful because its so fast too. i hate training abs but this only takes minutes, and I superset it with another exercise
And anyone worried about getting a huge waste from using weights, my waste is under 30" on stage

Its a routine I learned from a powerlifter (who has a 900 competition squat) to build up core strength. basically, grab a decline bench and ramp it up so that you've got at least a 60 degree or more angle, really steep. Slowly lower yourself about 1/2 way down, to where you really feel resistance, then hold in that position for a slow count of 5, then bring yourself back up. thats one rep, start with 5x5 reps, then if you can do all that, next workout either adds more reps or weight. It doesnt sound like much, but if you do all 5 sets, with a slow 5 count on each rep, you'll be shaking like a leaf by the time you are done. I do that 1x per week, and thats the only ab routine I've done for the past 5 or so years. I do 5 sets of 8-10 reps with a 45lb plate, and thats the whole thing. The cool thing is that it helps your deadlift and squat as well.

Damn... Needsize... you are so "knowledgeful" that they even created this word... just for you.
LMAO....;)

Interesting. I'm looking for something different.
Is the sticky at the top of the training board the most comprehensive guide to the 5X5?
Is there any other sources of info on this programme?

yea he knmows his shit just don't listen to his insulin advice unless he cleared it up finally dude you had me worried there for awhile

I've been doing this on my own for a while. Others in the Gym look at me like I'm nuts, but I like the difference in my deadlift for sure...

I just tried the ab routine today (and also am using NS's 5x5 for deadlifts) and man I was shaking like a vibrator. It eased a bit after the first set though. Oh and I also noted that I kind of crunched forward to contract the abdominals, as opposed to being more straight and opened up, which I felt more in my lower back. But like he said, it doesn't take a long time and it felt like a decent workout to me. I mean I have hit my abs harder than that before, but it takes much more time and energy, where this routine I can add to the beginning of every workout. how often do you guys use this ab routine per week?

I sure as hell hope you arent talking about the post where I said i did 20iu on 35 carbs, as that was VERY obviously not posted as advice. It was something that I worked my way down to after talking to my doctor about it. If you do any research on diabetes you would be shocked to see how few carbs a diabetic uses if they feel like they are going into shock, a fraction of what we preach.

babbabuee, I use the routine once a week, sometimes 2 depending

ns, thanks for the response, I was beginning to think there's no way i could do that more than a couple times a week. anyway, I'm at about 12%BF and I can see some six pac. I know it's down there, I think what I need more than ab workouts is a cutting diet. coming up next year.

glad to see this wasnt a flame war

im up to a 25 pound plate! for 5x5 the incline is still around 30 degree's. i wanna stay @ 25 pound weight but increase the bench to a 45 degree angle next week

thats awesome, I really noticed it on my squats, it was a major bonus that they make the abs look so good as well as strong

my posture is a bit better to, i feel " centered" when twisting my torso. my whole midsection feels stronger. is that in my head?

part of it may be in your head, but a stronger core will make a difference, and if its working dont knock it ...
