If shooting in the glute, I use a 23g 1 and 1/4
I use the same to draw. its really preference but dont go with 21's if its your first cycle

20 or 18 to draw, 23 to pin.
No need to go bigger than 18ga to draw. I try to stick to 20g to keep the stopper from getting fucked up.
For glutes 23ga 1.5 inch is fine, just don't put the pin all the way in. You always want some metal sticking out in case the needle breaks (always a tiny chance it could happen). But 1.5 inches should give you enough slack to get past the fat to the muscle and still have a little metal sticking out.
If you are gonna pin quads use a 25 or 23ga 1 inch needle and for delts the same.

I use Terumo brand syringes.. If you buy them by the 100's you will notice variance in the needle tips.. Some tips are shorter, some are longer, different bevel.. You learn the difference when you stick yourself.. Some hurt, some don't.
Anyway, 23ga 1.5" 3cc is all you need. If you go to shoot 2cc you have space to aspirate, you should be able to extract your gear with the 23ga and using that same needle inject yourself. If you go through two stoppers with the same needle it will be significantly blunt and then you may want to swap it out for a fresh pin. 1.5" is enough to get deep in my chunky glute, plenty for my quads, and ventreal, just need to be careful with delts as mine are boulders like some of you monsters.

get some 23G 1.5inch and 25G 1.5inch and see which one is better for you. Plus some 18 or 20G to draw. they are pretty cheap so experiment. i like 25G cuz it dont hurt at all, and less scaring.

I would think that he should extract the gear swap needles then shoot just to be as sterile as possible and so you have a new sharp when you go to pin your self you dont have to worry about it being dull or not.

Ya the one time I tried to use the same pin to draw and stick it literally bounced off my skin it was so dull. And it hurt. Never did that again. Needles are cheap. No reason not to just use 2.

Don't inject with the 20ga. Talk about scar tissue city, not to mention the pain. The 1" needles should be fine. I used 1" for a while on my glutes until I bought some 1.5's just to be sure and it seemed to be working fine. If you are fairly lean it shouldn't be a problem. You will probably just have to put the needle all the way in to assure that it reaches deep enough in the muscle. Just be careful to keep it very straight and you shouldn't have any issues with breakage. Actually you want to keep it very straight the whole time anyway because it will hurt much more later if you move it around because you are bruising the inside of the muscle. You can't tell it right away but it starts to hurt later. My first couple injects were much more painful afterwards than my later ones. Good luck.

my Terumo hurt sometimes, but you can clearly see the bevel isn't the same for all needles.
like i said I use 23ga 1.5" for everything, how far I go in is dependent on muscle size not my needle length. i have at least a half inch of fat on my ass (i'm 230 @ 14%), i feel it when i push the needle where the fat ends and the muscle starts.. im in about an inch..
I say you use the 20's to pull, the 23's to shoot.. make sure you stay on the outside of your cheeks..
you can try ventrealgluteal injections, should be cake at your bf$ with a 1".. quads are easy too if you don't pussy out about rubbing a nerve..
