i have a co worker that joined 2 fantasy basketball leagues i was running this past season. he ended up losing both and owes me about $170 total. when i asked him for the loot he gave me $40 and that's it. so now he is having a baby and his wedding is this friday. i'm invited but don't know what to do. should i bring him a gift? should i just give him an empty card? he has not even attempted to pay me back and he is well aware that he owes me money. what should i do?

i am leaning towards just going with nothing. if i go with a card he will open it and see nothing. that shit sticks with you.

i just learned that at his bachelor party he did something similiar. his brother and friend threw him a party and charged at the door. his bro took cash at the door and left with all the cash. his bro was suppose to split it with his friend but he owed him. so the bachelor actually thought this move was a good one. i doubt he will think its a good one when its done to him.

give a card, you are there to celebrate.. your presence is what is expected..

if in the future he asks you about it, tell him you would have gladly given a gift but the $130 he owes you from the game, and others that didn't pay you you were having a hard time making ends meet.. thus, your presence (by the way the chicken was dry, and hasn't he ever heard of an open bar???) was all the gift you could afford to give right now..

That's what I would do, and then find some new friends. That not paying money back is BS.

i'm glad you guys feel the same way as i do. the right thing to do is probably give a gift though but i'm tight with loot like everyone else.

Personally, that's not even the point. If you owe someone money, you pay it back, I don't care what you have to do to pay it back you do it. If you can't afford to pay your debts, then DON'T BET IN THE FIRST PLACE.

with these situations you get to see the ugliness in people.

He feels like he does not owe you that money cause it was FF, not like real money. He sounds like a good friend, you should keep him around... not.
