Need Some Opinions/Help

My right rear deltoid-head - (feels like inside close to the joint) has been keeping me from doing anything wide-gripped and "pushing"
Example - Flat Bench, Incline bench, Military Press, and wide Dumbell on the previous.

I can bench with my handsabout 6-8 inches closer together (with a Barbell)

And Dumbell presses are pain free if I hold the dumbells "verticle" and keep the close to my armpits when lowered.

I have no pain throwing a football, baseball, etc - and side/front laterals don't hurt a bit. But the standard shoulder width hurts/pinches even with no weight.

Also - it's not bone to bone, - it feels like a tear, but wouldn't something torn cause more immobility????

Thanks for any help you can provide besides (see a doc) - I am going at the end of next week.

sounds like it could be rotator cuff.

get a "shoulder horn", this is one of the best inventions when it comes to shoulder rehab.

So even with a rotator injury you can still have full throwing, pulling. etc motion?

Just not pushing?

Can I keep lifting if it doesn't hurt on the few exercises?

thanks for the reply MAC

yes. though it is common for throwing to hurt as well, but it is not a requirement.

yes

yes- though if you feel strain, go with lighter weight and stricter form (work the pump, not the weight)

it's been a blessing in disguise, - I've been making great inner pec gains with the closer-grips.................

Also supersetting dumbell laterals w/ raises has added roundness and mass to the the shoulder-head better than I've ever seens from simple heavy dumbell presses.

Thanks MAC

Newbie here man (first reply), don't know a whole lot about anything being talked about on this site (still doing my homework) but as an ex-college ballplayer have been experiencing the same thing. You might not have a tear in your cuff but an ass-biting impingement of the cuff. This can be undectable sometimes until you get yourself on a bench with some serious weight. I had it so bad in college that I couldn't even look at bench! Was sidelined to strictly doing push-ups. If I could loosen up really good (and choke down about 12 motrin) I'd be fine during games, but the off-season kicked my ass. My therapist said that these can be the worst type of shoulder injuries. I'm sure you don't have a tear because you wouldn't even be able to throw a fit let alone a baseball. Don't know if this will work for you, but the best medicine I could get for that cost me $13.00 at a local hospital. Invest in those rehab latex bands that are different colors for different resistance. Try reps of light resistance of side raises, forward raises, pull-backs, and overhead pulls until your shoulder burns. I did this everynight before I went to bed and in about 2-3 weeks my shoulder socket was strong like bull. I still do this every night because will notice it if I take any lengthy time off....Also (don't know if you work a desk job) but one stretch that is great is taking your tricep and putting it flush on a desk and slowly pulling on your wrist parallel to your chest. Hold this for about 30 seconds and repeat off and on about 20 times per day. This will loosen up your shoulder socket right where it sounds like you have the pinching.....Hope I could be of some help...

See a chiropracter who does active release/myofacial release. I had bad shoulder problems, it turned out to be my biceps tendon tying into the front delt (felt like the delt though) and my rhomboid was knotted up bad (made my shoulder not track right). Its painfull massage, but it helps A LOT.

Insert Pantera CD in CD player-apply headphones to shoulder, and you're shoulder will heel quicker from heavy metal induced ultra sound. Poison CD's will only further increase inflamation, so don't even think about it.

I was just treated for this 2 weeks ago.. Your description of the pain is to the T man..
