I vaguely recall that you were experimenting with bench pressing almost every day? How long did you do that? Also, weren't you doing the 5x5 alongside that?
One other question: even before your buddy convinced you to try the every day benching routine, weren't you doing the 5x5 on bench twice a week?
I think if you just stick to the standard 5x5, you'd be happy with gains aplenty.
