Need some advice on soreness..

HANSEL

Yesterday I worked chest...I did more volume than Im used to, kind of overdid it.

I stretched well before any lifting, started with Incline DB press.

SO later in the day my shoulder kind of hurts, like when Im steering my car or weird movements. IF I have someone hold my arms by my side and try to raise my arms to my sides, I can do it but there is some pain.

Would I know if I seriously injured my rotator right away? Or does this just sound like soreness?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

thats alot of views and no replies, tell me what you think...

Am I just being a pussy? Its ok you can tell me.

the area in which you described makes me think its not your rotators.

a latteral raise as far as i know, doesnt involve the rotators.

so you probably ok, like molili said, just rest, and see how you feel in a week. you may have worked your rotators and they are sore, but that doesnt mean you injured them.

Thanks for the replies guys.

by chance, Do you know of any specific movements that would pinpoint rotator?

due you mean for rehab, or prerehab. meaning to make it feel better because your strained it, or how to strengthen it so you dont strain it.

check the stick on active recovery at the top of the training page for spatts and hannibal demonstrating a ton of exercises for rehab.

dumbell powercleans and face pulls are the 2 best for strengthening them in my opinion.

sorry , I meant ways to move now, to find out if it is in fact is the rotator thats the cause of the pain

bend your arm at a 90 degree angle at the elbow. now stick out your arm so that its parallel to the ground. then rotate it up and down so what only from the elbow down is moving, the upper arm is just rotation in place.

throw a baseball, pitures have to use a ton of rotator muscle.

and my favorite........ the empty coke can test.

stick your arm out straight out in front. now rotate your arm like your holding a coke can and turn it over, so that all the soda runs out, now do some front shoulder raises with your hand turned over in this position.

if there is sharp pin pointing pain, you may have strained them.
