Need opinions on my "low but normal" test results.

I posted this on the anabolic page because this page doesn't get much usage. I am also posting it here because I want different opinions.

I went in to get my results and after a long wait, the nurse comes back and says, "All normal. Thanks. Buh-bye." I told her I wanted the print out. She was surprised but did it.

So I scored a 328! The "normal" range is 280-800. How in the hell can a fit and healthy 30 year old man be in the bottom 10% range and still be normal? I might buy that if I was 60.

So where should my levels be? Can I nudge my levels down any so that they have to treat it? Should I try to find an HRT clinic? How would that work with the military?

Your free test is more telling regarding your condition. My test levels were in the middle of the range, but my free test was near the bottom of the range. An HRT clinic will likely be willing to provide you a scrip to get you in the top part of the proper test range.

I'm guessing from your post that you feel good and have no sexual problems. If yes, who cares what your numbers are.

It is very easy to push your numbers up. The simple addition of Androgel 5 will do that. 75 mg of injected test e or c ew will also. You'll be knocking 900 within 60 days. However ... for what purpose?

There is no simple answer to what a 30 year old man should score on total and free test. I would expect over the mid ... 400-500. Other factors can push test scores down.

If you are military, you simply need to ask the military Dr about policy towards HRT. You do not want trouble with Uncle Sam.

There must have been a reason to even go to the doctor's and check your level. I agree with the post that if you do not have any problems then there isn't any reason to raise levels. These levels are also normal with different doctors, what might seem "normal" to one doesn't mean the same to another. Especially if you have no reasons for the elevated test.

You can explain to your doc that your very active in sports or your sexual functions is suffering to name a few sometimes just being lazy or depressed is another reason. good luck

Sounds like my same experience. I was having symptoms of low test levels but according to the GP my test levels were ok (both were barely over the low end of scale). Referred me to a pysch dr. Ended up educating and treating myself for awhile but finally went to a HRT dr today and got a script. I would consult with a specialist in male HRT and see what he or she says because most GP don't have a clue. Good luck.

I was in similar shoes as yours

Back in March I talked to my GP about symptoms of low test. He did mid-day blood test and I scored 290. Idiot did not want to do anything - said I was in the normal range (240 - 800). So I saw an endocrinologist. Who immediately said my test was normal .... for an 80 year old man. Ordered another blood test on a morning fast and scored 370. Still a low normal score. She put me on 5g of testim gel daily. Recent score was 480, some better and feeling some better. She upped me to 7.5g/day and will retest me in 2 months. She seems to be taking the reasonable approach and progressively upping the test and periodic monitoring.

All this for a $10 copay per visit and blood test and $20 for 3 months of testim. Gotta love insurance.

I say see if you can see an endo on your insurance who will treat you. MUCH cheaper than an HRT clinic.
