So here's my story. I've been lifting for about 3 years, although have never been consistent for long periods of time. I was in college until a couple of months ago, so it was hard at times. Over the summer I was finishing up my degree, but since I wasn't full time, the school would not allow me to use the gym without paying. Well I was working on my senior project which took the time of a full time job itself, so I didn't work during this period. I lost a lot of weight. Came home weighing about 158 at 6' tall. I usually weighed about 175.
Well came home, starting working out again, 3x5 into 5x5. I'm back up at about 176-177 right now. My lifts are at all time highs except bench. Squats are over 200 for the first time. Shoulder presses about 115. Rows with great form above 135. Deadlifts over 225. But my chest is lagging. I'm happy with most of the strength, but I now need to add more size, especially to the chest and arms.
I need to move away from the 5x5 for a little bit (I'll always go back to it..something like bulk, strength, bulk, strength, etc). I really need to hit my chest, tri's, and bi's more than I am. I'm not the guy who's going to go into a gym and do 10 bicep exercises. I'm not retarded. But I also need some increased volume. I've only been doing 3 sets total of direct bicep work, 3 sets total of direct tricep work, and 3-6 sets total of direct chest work.
I've been considering routines from HST, to push-pull's, etc. I'm looking for any and all advice on where to go from here. Thanks.
