And especially in the 19th century, they talked about Europe in this manner. For instance, the segregation of the Jews during the time of Spinoza, Mendelsohn, etc. Eastern/Western europe. I'm not an idiot.... hehe.

Austria is considered Eastern europe. Eastern and southern along with Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey. It's not as east as Poland or some of the other countries.. but it can still be considered eastern/southern europe. Well, at least from what I learned I thought...calveless wonder said:if you know the basics, you do realize where eastern europe generally starts, right?
Austria is certainly not eastern europe. In fact, eastern europe is more than just geographical...it's the culture and mindset of the european countries that dictates that.
if you said hungary, you'd be close...but austria is certainly not.
latvia, czech republic, slovakia, belarus, ukraine....etc. all the stuff under the soviet curtain was eastern europe.
