Nasty Oatmeal and Protein

Im at work and felt like having some oatmeal with protein.

Well I added a 1/2 cup of oats. 2 scoops of designer and some water. I put it in the Microwave for 2-3 minutes. Damn! This shit tastes awfull. I now have aheadache!

I had to add to packs of sugar to make it even edible.

My oats without protein usually tastes okay...

besides the fact that you probably down graded the protein a substantial amount by placing it in the microwave.
 
Thats what I thought, but then I heard from I beleive will brink ( I could be wrong) that you will not degrade the protein. This is why designer protein actually puts out recipes where you cook with the protein. Maybe the microwave is different. I usually take them seperatly but I was lazy.
 
Dude, never heat whey protein. It clumps up, and tastes awful. It probably denatures the protein as well, which isn't good either. If you want to mix whey in with your oats, do it after cooking, and let the oats cool a bit before adding the whey. It'll taste pretty decent.
 
I usually mix 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 scoop of Chocolate Whey, 5g of Creatine & 5g of Glutamine before heating in microwave, and I think it tastes fine. Usually after I heat I will also cut up a banana into it, and sometimes add some raisens. Yummy!

guys im telling you, putting something in the oven is one thing but the microwave will denture that protein.
 
I always toss my oatmeal in the freezer while I prepare my Eggs to cool it down before I toss my precious Protein Powder in it. I did the same thing you did the first time I added protein powder it does taste like shit. It changes consistancy.
 
All protein is denatured when you apply heat. Unless you eat raw meat (sushi?). Does this mean all protein is useless after heating? Of course not! Its going to be broken down in your digestive system, right? But, whey should not be heated when using it post workout...the big advantage of whey is its rapid absorption and high bioavailability.

yes but whey is a very delicate protein compared to say beef, or chicken.
 
I guess.. chances are 1% heat their protein shakes. lol.. I just tried something quick but never again!
 
Yo MohawkMuscle,

Cook oatmeal first then add whey protein.....now the seceret...put NAT PB in the mix....this hepls the taste a lot plus it gives you the unsat fats that you need. :p
