Nasal staph infections

Anyone get these? I work in a hospital and people say the gym is another place to pick this shit up. Any feedback appreciated.

If you work in a hospital you are always growing nasal staph and always will. It only becomes symptomatic when your immune system is weakened.

It's probably MRSA. I have a script for Bactrim and some Bactroban cream, am i on the right track with that?

I had one for years, I have NO idea how I caught it, I know my immune system was down when it first came on. It would get worse, get better and sort of go away, only to come back again.

Anyway, it came on again this year and I don't know what possessed me but I went at it with plain old OTC triple antibiotic ointment twice a day. I actually used a q-tip and dried the nasal passage really well, then put the ointment up as deep as I could on another q-tip (truly horrible). Cleared the infection up in less than three weeks.

Thanks for the info.

I think all hospital workers are carriers of MRSA, MRSE, VRE, and other bacteria.

Rule #1: don't associate with a healthcare worker. :)

From my post above: "If you work in a hospital you are always growing nasal staph and always will. It only becomes symptomatic when your immune system is weakened."
