My children have different names.
I agree with casavant, the person makes the name, not the name a person.

dont have a simple name, but then again I just came up with a simple work around- shorten it, and use that instead :) unless your writing me a check or looking at my drivers license you NEVER use my 'real' name...

Bernie

a lot of people love my name and says it suits me, I use to hate it. I wanted something bold and uniqe...starting to like what I have though.

But my little girl is so going to be named

Autumn

I think an unusual name can have a dramatic affect on a personality.

I have an extremly famous name and I love it. Some people dislike it but you know what? I get off a little on a little adversity now and then. Helps keep me sharp.

If everyone approves...you are not doing anything.

I've met about a million people with who share my first name (or some variation of it).

Most everyone calls me by my last name tho, which is also fairly common. I actually prefer being addressed that way.

I was nicknamed "Ears"...for um, obvious reasons. Always pissed me off.

Anyway, I doubt names have that much inpact on one's personality. I can think of plenty of other reasons to hassle someone. :)

how about when your folks give you a foreign name....although i was considered at home when i was born....Cristoforo Giovanni

I got teased untill i americanized my name in 3rd grade to Christopher John

It does not really seem to have an effect on people who come from a culture or tradition where names are sometimes changed based on unsual circumstances. People from this sort of culture may look upon a name that everyone uses to describe them as more of a title, or to simply get an idea of how they are perceived.

I agree that it is the person who makes the name.
