Well, someone sent me a url for a site with fat chicks in party hats, and I was reading some of the hate mail, because i like to see how fucking stupid and ridiculous people really are to get offended over any possible thing. Well I found out an there is an organization for people trying to make being fat 'cool' and 'acceptable.' Yes, i think health problems, body odor, and taking up too many seats on a bus is definately 'cool' and 'acceptable'

Well, I was reading some shit on their website and this is some of the stuff they want.

-

That the President's Council on Physical Fitness delete the ratio of fat-to-lean body mass from its definition of fitness.

That fitness professionals become better educated on the psychological, physiological, and sociological factors affecting weight and health so that they can develop optimum fitness programs tailored specifically for fat people, with goals unrelated to weight loss.

That fat people be trained to lead fitness classes and serve as role models for health and fitness regardless of size.

That fat people have equal access to fitness and exercise facilities in an environment free from ridicule and derogatory comments by staff or patrons.

That exercise programs encourage fat clients to attain an increased level of fitness and well-being rather than emphasizing weight loss or unrealistic levels of physical performance or appearance.

That exercise equipment and apparel be manufactured and made available which would allow fat people to pursue fitness goals safely, efficiently, and comfortably.

That fat people increase physical activities slowly, choose enjoyable activities, and be motivated by inner goals and interests.

So basically all they want is for thing to made better for them. Like being fat should be the norm and not frowned upon. only in america people..

oh yes, do yourself a favor and check out their discussion board. it will make you bang your head into the wall or laugh your ass off. here's an example

"Hello all. I'm new here. I'm a big-boned male looking to shed a few pounds. Recently, I've been walking on the treadmill for about 10 minutes a day. After that, I like to sit down in front of my TV and eat prunes (they make me a bit gassy, but they're so tasty.) I've been doing this for about 2 weeks now, but not seeing any results. I spoke with my doctor about my problem, and he tells me that if I excersize too vigorously like that, that I could cause serious heart damage. What do I do? Oh how I so desperately want to lose this weight"

"Our obesity is a sign, not of sick individuals with weak characters, but of a sick country with weak values. "

nothing wrong with that one. i'm "fat" as you would say. not terribly but i don't get ridicule for 2 reasons.

1. i'm bigger than everyone there
2. i've earned respect from very decent respectfull people.

i don't think they need special treatment, just the same basic decent treatment that other people want.

I see this as somewhat typical of a lot of people-- they flat out refuse to take responsibility for their choices. It pisses me off that everyone has to be a "victim".

Think it should be their decision? Obesity will cost taxpayers billions in healthcare costs.

Your dollars people.

but yet people still make themselves out to be the victim. like someone is forcing them to eat, be lazy, and smoke.

raina, whos' that in your avatar?

back to the subject. i agree, they are'nt victims of anything but their choices. some people do have a thyroid problem but the ones that don't are there by some bad choices made in life. same as people who smoke or drink, it's a choice that they should be willing to pay for when the time comes, not anyone else.
