Overall I found this an intriguing film. "Mysterious Skin" portrays victims of child molestation as people attempting proactive albeit misguided attempt to exorcise a subconscious demon rather than whiny, chest clutching, mentally crippled crybabies desperate for attention which is refreshing. Revenge and hate never enter the picture, only a desire to understand how past events impact the compulsions of the main characters.
