My search engine has been hijacked ...

When I do google or yahoo search, and click on any link in the search results, my browser is redirected to another site.

Most commonly, it is redirected to virus-scanonline.com and an application starts running to 'scan my system for any threats'. I can't stop it because it has disabled the task-manager in my system. The only thing I can do is to disconnect my computer from internet.
I have Norton internet security installed on my system and I have run virus-scan twice with no result.
I have already deleted all off-line content and temporary internet files.

Does anyone has a solution to this problem? I am really frustrated and would highly appreciate any help.

It found and removed '3 infections'.
I am still having same problems.
Lestat, what worked for you? How did you fix it?
I would hate to reformate hard drive and reinstall everything.

EVERY time this happens put some of the text in the popup into Google in quotes. I bet my car keys somebod else has the same issue and you'll be shown how to fix. Just coming here and saying I'm hosed doesn't tell us anything about your problem, except that you have one.
