my school is retarded

we got a few inches of snow last night, and every single public school in the area had called in 2 hour delays by about 11pm. my school won't say what they're doing til about 6am. typically when all the schools in the area are on a 2 hour delay or closed, my school goes to a 2 hour delay.

i know the majority of students live on campus, but there's still a lot of commutters as well as all the professors, and a lot of professors have kids. when every public school in the area calls for a 2 hour delay but my school doesn't, quite a few people get fucked, myself included.

anyway, bastards didn't put us on a delay today, so i had to skip my classes. little girl was on a 2 hour delay and someone had to stay home with her. i hate this shit, because there's 2 classes i do not like to miss, and one of them was at 9am this morning. i can probably get the notes from the professor on Monday though. he knows i have a 35 minute commute and 2 kids at home and is pretty cool about a lot of stuff.

Don't you love it?? {sarcasm intended} The college I got my Bachelor's at was closed today -- they never closed!! Grrrrr

yeah, it really helps me out academically that my school refuses to do what other schools are doing.

about 2 weeks ago the elementary school here had a 1 hour delay but i didn't. luckily my neighbor was off work that day and i was able to leave on time for class. the next day my school had a 2 hour delay and i had to skip class because it wasn't giong to be over until 1230 and T and TH i have to pick my son up from daycare by noon (half days for him saves me some cash).

My college never ever had delays or closings. And our campus is very large and spread out. One of my classes was 3/4 of a mile from my dorm and I remember having to walk through snow on many a WI winter day. Fuckers.

my school is the same, they never close no matter what, and 90% of the students/staff commute over 30mins in good weather

That's why I take online courses.

What are you studying?

i couldn't do online courses because i'd spend too much time fucking around on the computer.

Psych major, Criminal Justice minor. a lot of people i've talked to (including professors) said that i'm setting myself up pretty good for law school with my choice of major and minor. i sure as hell hope they're right.

Speaking of retarded.

There used to be a retarded man who delivered newspapers in our area using a bicycle avec training wheels, and a trailer cart. We never gave him a hard time due to his obvious daily challenges, but other, more blackhearted people would toss drinks at him and call him Mr.Softy, Robert Downey Jr etc...

Until one day the retarded news carrier got smoked by a bus and had his handicapped organs sprayed all over the intersection. Then it was all memorial services, flowers, donations to the Down's Syndrome institute.

It ended up that he was simply a man who'd been beaten into retardation by a group of local hooligans (who were never caught btw) and he actually didn't have Down's Syndrome, he had those fucked up eyes prior the beating.

Most people actually reneged on their pledges to the foundations.

That event helped shape my outlook on humanity.

So I guess, in this instance, sometimes retards have to die for the greater good.

(On cue) Anyone know any good lawyer jokes?

i actually dispise most lawyers. too many of them are money hungry pieces of shit.

So you want to be a attorney for altruistic motives, or you just think it's a good way to score tail?

just something i've always wanted to do. don't necessarily have to be a trial lawyer either. i'm actually more interested in constitutional rights than anything else. one of my criminal justice professors told me to go into corporate law for about 15-20 years, save up as much as possible, then spend my last working years defending constitutional rights. he said those types of laywers don't get paid very much and do a lot of volunteer work, so just to maintain a decent standard of living and be able retire comfortably i'd have to take the corporate law route first.

i've got plenty of time to decide. 2 more years of undergrad work and then law school.

Good luck!

If you decide to specialize in criminal law you can probably recruit a sizeable pool of "defendants" from EF :)

just get the fuck up and get an education

learn to read.

3rd paragraph - "anyway, bastards didn't put us on a delay today, so i had to skip my classes. little girl was on a 2 hour delay and someone had to stay home with her."

my gf was at work and there was no one availible at that time of the morning on that short of notice to watch her daughter for 2 hours.

but since you say "just get the fuck up and get an education" then what do you suggest i do, leave a 7 year old at home alone all morning?

I'm not sure if it's like this everywhere, but in my state, all state funded institutions be it K-12, government offices, or universities are under the judgement of the governor when it comes to delays/closings. i was taking a class under the president of the university, who was our governor's chief of staff last year, and we brought up the issue during some foul weather.

My college(actually whole state) didnt even celebrate Martin Luther King Jr day till like 3 years ago. We certainly didnt observe Presidents day when it rolled around.

My shit isnt ever cancelled due to weather (its the fucken desert)

And speaking of retards. There's this retarded guy on campus in a wheel chair that makes chicks push him around and he tries to get them to push him into like the female dorm. He's a perv, but who can blame him - he never gets action or probably has.
