I needed to remove my fan b/c it wasn't working, but I had to remove the heatsink/cpu to get to it. Well, putting the cpu back in turned out to be impossible with all the dozens of connection prongs needing to be lined up perfectly...a couple of them bent and broke off, so now it's fucked. I suppose I'll have to call up Dell and hope they still have Pentium 4's, preferrably with the heatsink attached and a local technician who can make sure the fucker gets installed right. Good thing I still have my PS3 and wifi.

yeah, once u break a pin its done (I did that to my last PC)...buy a used one on ebay
Does it have to be a specific model, or will any Pent 4 do? Do they all come prefabed with the heatsink (that's what that metal grid is right....I'm a pc parts rookie)? Also I'm def. not gonna try to install it again, at least not if there's a special tool needed.

Smurf, thanks for the offer :)

the heatsink will not be attached, that is the easy part...the hard part for me is matching up the pins, however I think you suppose to load it into that handle thing. Bring it in, should be a quick job...good luck.

Thanks bro. I might check newegg.com too, see if they also have a compatible fan. Probably have to get that from Dell though since I have a Dell case.
