My doctor, bless his prescription giving heart, has a motto:
"To compete in today's artificial society, you need an edge."
He's somewhat liberal with his prescriptions, but also heavy with advice on using them to stay on top.
So here's my take on this discussion:
If you feel you have enough time and energy to dedicate to being a full-time bodybuilder. And you have a solid genetic base or predisposition to gaining, then You Da Man!
But, if you have a family, career and other hobbies but still want to have some serious bulk AND understand how to use AAS in moderation with success, then You Da Man!
BUUUUT, if you're a slacker, wanna play video games all day, work at Po Folks washing dishes 2 hours a day(to pay your mom the meager rent she charges for your corner in the basement) and only want to work out twice a week and decide AAS will make you "look cool", then... you need to rethink your goals.
