Corolla's are solid.
My mother had an 83 corolla that ran like a champ till 00. My sister and I both learned to drive in that poor car....I treated it like piss and still came back for more. I used to do nuetral drops in that poor thing

I don't think anyone was hating. I know when I have bought a new car, and I am excited, that is also a lot of money to tie up and typically a decision that is thought out and you don't want to necessarily hear (read) somebody telling you that you made a bad choice.
