Nice. I ride the CBR 1100 XX. I always liked the Ducati. Not to be a hater, but i think your bike needs valaves adjusted every 3000 miles. And from what i have been told it requires the engine pulled. So from what the Honda guys told me it equals a sub par performing bike, with $$$ for maintenance annually. But if it's not true let me know, i may want one in the future, i like their classy styling.

very nice. i like them in yellow, even though i'm not really a sportbike person.
i've been on one though.

Wow man, that is an awesome bike. I have a Yamaha R6 that I bought back in 2002 that I love but a Ducati is top notch bro. Excellent choice in model and color.

I don't want to sound negative again, but the performance on the Ducati is very sub par. The're almost riced our bikes. Your R6 will eat this Ducati for breakfast, it's a not even a close contest. I think they're beautifull bikes but i'm a performance specs guy and i was always dissapointed with Ducati's lack of performance compared to Japanese bikes.

no i just got it it is a 2003 ducati 749... original color with the upgraded rims package to match the color of the bike.

dude i envy you, i saw a ducati 919 (i think) at my gym in the parking lot and i almost busted my pants, i like hayabusa's too. dont change a single thing on it.

i didn't get the ducati for the fastest 1/4 time.. i got it for looks & handling, and the SOUND!! damn v-twin motors OWN the sound of a jap inline 4.. i'll find out about the maintenence thing.. and get back to u

Cool.

Yea the V twin will sound nice as hell. The only way to get close to that sound with an inline 4 would be to have a big displacement inline 4 with Twin Pipes, but still wont compare to yours. Getting if for the looks is the exact reason i wated one.

the sound of a twin is awesome.

and the handling (stock) will leave a stock jap bike crying.

as for looks...

i think the design team that came up with the styling for the 999 and 719 should be chained to a wall, a 1/4 mile long rope tied around their nuts and attached to a 998, and, well, you can figure out the rest.

last i knew, Duc valve lash check was every 8K miles. if you are mechanically inclined, you can learn to do it yourself and save a hell of a lot of cash. isn't that hard to check on your own, just requires a few hours and patience.

other than that, every few hundered miles i'd go over the bike with a wrench and make sure things are tight. V-twins have a tendency to shake parts loose. however, the Ducs are pretty damn smooth, so you might not have to worry about that. buddy had a 97 Guzzi V1100 Sport. he had to tighten down almost everything (pegs, mirrors, etc) every 500 miles or so or they'd come loose. that bike rattled an oil line loose once...on the beginning of a 500 mile trip. that set us back 45 minutes alone. was a long night.

Sweet.......big fan of DUC's....if you tickle them a little bit, you will have everything you want in a bike....good choice.

Yeah, put a 12 'o clock bar on that bitch and make it a stunt bike!!! Popl wheelies down the highway and see if you can moon the person behind you at the same time. :mix:

One of the guys I ride with owns a Ducati. It's not quite that bad, the engine does not need to be pulled. His main complaint was that he had to buy some special tools. He checks them at the factory recommended intervals and has yet to have to actually adjust them.
I've not discussed the subject with him at length but if it's important to anyone I'll get detailed info. The guy has owned the bike 10 years and has never seen the inside of a dealer, he does all his own maintenance and repairs.

The only female from EF that I know of meeting in the real world was at a powerlifting meet and she goes by a different screen name. I checked your profile and you kinda look like her, now I'm confused
Two accounts?

wooooooooooow
I really dislike motorcycles (just cos everyone I know who had 'em died on 'em or almost) but I think that ducati is the most beautiful in the world

That makes me feel better, I have never really looked into Ducati bikes due to the price tag on most of them.
