he just got his letter of acceptance into Naval OCS...with this he is eligible for a spot at S.E.A.L try-outs without even signing on the dotted line with the Navy....the kid is a machine...24 years old...i'm pretty damn proud he passed the academic portion of the test...it ain't easy...

anybody care to post a pic of him?...

this kid wants to join the most elite fighting force around at a time when his country desperately needs some help...

he'll probably get crippled during some drill...

i better see some "atta boys" you ungrateful bastards...:D

Yeah...ok...jealous of a fucking squid...;) I was actually comtemplating going the SEAL route when I get out of the Marines, but I absolute HATE their fucking uniforms, I'd have to go through a technical school (fuck that I'm a grunt...ha, ha, ha)....plus there promotion system is all fucked up too. (for enlisted guys)

no- he is a triathalon freak...i think the odds are (i swear) one in 2000 will make seal....the odds are much, much better for officers vs. enlisted...anybody care to speculate on why?...
 
I don't remember the exact %'s but something like 10% make it fast the initial tryouts to get into BUDS.

Then maybe 30% of those make it past BUDS without quiting or failing
Then maybe 50% of those make it past Finals

It is tough even if they wear Fem Uni's as Enlisted

Most of the failures are due to Mental strain and not being able to handle the pressure.
Not Physical failures. The physical issues are weeded out in stage one before they ever get to BUDS.

Officers typically are better able to restrain themselves in the heat, understand the team concept or at least fake like they do. Enlisted are younger kids that think they can do it all alone.
Doing things on your own won't fly at BUDS...

No I'm not an Ex SPEC, but as a Navy Brat and a Military fan, I have seen it, Read it or talked to those that have been there.

hey, go eat a dick, I didn't ask for the assignment. (it just happens I'm squared away and look good in uniform) I follow the orders of those appointed over me. I only have 3 months left anyway, and then I'll have my nose in the dirt again. :)

BTW, have you ever served? Just curious....

he has never taken anything other than whey protein, creatine, and a multi-vitamin for anybody wondering...

You put your ass on the line for your country, doesn't matter if you were on the front lines or in the rear with the gear....I respect you for that. You should be proud.....

A lot of people don't realize how dangerous it is hauling tons of crap in the air.

Stuff comes to you half ass packed on Pallets falling all over the place.
Vehicles that are supposed to be empty come with box's of stuff stashed in the back
You are trusted to ballance out the load and also make sure you don't overload the plane.

Imagine a C5 loaded with Tons of cargo, and suddenly a 4,000 pound Item shifts 6 inches to the right in the bay...
You had bettter have a Pilot that is good and quick to recover.

Tis true. Isn't there alot of math involved do, concerning how the weight is distributed? One wrong move and your ass could be flying out the back of that bitch too....
 
Yea, some math some muscle and also experience.
But usually the Loadmaster(E5>) will figure the Max G load and also the Center ballance points on the Load depending on it's shape and center of gravity..

When doing Air Drops the drop team usually wears Portable Air even though you are not that high and are tethered.
I have seen one dude slip and swing out the back of the door on the strap untill he was pulled in.
He had on a front bay strap that is longer and was working in the back by the door.
What a dumb ass he was

Hell fucking yeah. We active duty guys give the 'weekend warriors' a hard time, but they are important. They are the ones that are guarding the majority of the bases right now.

Well I was nowhere near a Ranger.....good ole 76P here....Material and Accounting Specialist and oh was it special.
