first time offense is normally a 700-900 dollar fine in the US along with a suspended drivers liscence for 6-9 mo. which is dependent on the BA content.
can I ask why you decided to go through that much trouble and expense for your offense? is this your second or third?
you know, after 4-5 it becomes a federal offense and since 1985, all OWI/DUI/DWI are on permenent record. however, it is only a civil offense

Guys, if I remember right, MTS is looking for a second house in the 1.5 mil range; I don't think 20k is a big deal to him.

Was it just a DUI you had? I beat a DUI case and my lawer was $700. Granted the cop had no right to pull me over since I did nothing wrong when he did.

Add 2 para-legals for $100/hr
So each hour they workl on your case you get billed $600

I lived in London(UK) too. Far more expensive lawyers. Never seen somebody spend $20K on a DIU charge.

Matt likes to spend a lot of money. For $20,000 he could hire a personal driver for the 6 months his license would be suspended, sit in the back seat with the pitch black tinted window smoking a cigar, drinking whiskey, and instructing everyone he meets to call him "Don Skywalker."
Matt just wants you all to know that he has a lot of moola and that 20k in place of a trivial fine and a 6 month suspension is chump change for him.
I don't know about you guys, but I DEFINITELY want him to be my friend now. (muhaha matt. the jokes will continue for weeks now
