my interview today...

stilleto

ELITE MENTOR
EF VIP
when the woman called me about the job, she said, "hi, this is jennifer from advantage something", and then told me about the job. I THINK i said that I would get their address from their website and she told me what it was but I didn't write it. what I had written down was her name, her number, and "advantage M"

when i got off the phone with her, I looked up advantage... media, because I thought that's what she said, and found one in a town 30 minutes from me. yup, i had applied there and loved the company. i read all about it, got directions, and was all set.
I showed up a few minutes early, asked the receptionist for Jennifer. She said, "jennifer in human resources?"
yes. jennifer in human resources.

Jennifer comes down and doesn't know who i am. "I have an interview at 3pm?"

doesn't ring a bell. she asked if it was with the other jennifer and I said I had the name in my voice mail if she didn't mind waiting while I listened.
So there I am, at advantage media, listening to the voicemail from Jennifer at ADVANTAGE MARKETING.

my first thought was to say, "look, i'm here, i'm in a suit, and I have a copy of my resume. can you just interview me?"
but instead, i realized I had to make a getaway. I thought about just making a run for it, but I said "you know what? i think i have the wrong address. i'm sorry." and I left. but now if they really DO call me for a job, they're going to be really really suspicious.

oh, and I got to my car and called the right place and got their address. it was 20 minutes away and I was already late. awesome.

I hate interviews. :worried: That sux. If you don't get it you'll get something BETTER. And then you'll be glad.

they can't afford to pay me more. and despite a national poll, i'm not cheap.

I thought nerds dug deep to keep women around, especially one's that do not need to be inflated.

lol.
they do, but business is down and they just can't pay me more. other managers are paid more though, and do less work, so... goodbye, nerd world.

Hope it went well. I love interviews BTW. Never had one that I didn't get that I actually wanted.

LOL at the inflatable line.

thanks everyone.

i don't mind interviews. I do very well.

i finally made it to the right company and the interview went great. i know they'll offer me the job, but I don't want it. the company is small (10 people) and it involves way too much travel.

Congrats Stiletto. I'm not worried about you :)

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

thanks.

i have another interview on monday. that job sounds GREAT.
it's around 45 minutes from my house, BUT... they are moving into a new building, that's another 15 minutes. that sucks.

would you seriously consider driving an hour to/from work?

i would HATE it, but i also live in the middle of nowhere.
the entire county is legally "rural" and no new businesses can be built here.
that leaves me with my own company, a huge insurance company that pays terribly, and a pharmaceutical research facility.

not too far from that (probably 30 minutes away) is a HUGE (i mean, HUGE) company, but they haven't called me.
so... if i keep moving outward, i'm getting on the parkway and that alone ads time.

i am trying to avoid that commute as much as possible though.

Hope you get the one thats close to you! I cross state lines to go to work, it gets old fast. Even with 'light' traffic it takes me an hour to get home :(

communting sucks balls! was going 42 miles each way to my last job, 40 on the highway. this was when gas was a paltry 2.30 to 2.80 a gallon. i couldnt wrap my sexy little brain around having a commute longer than my 7 miles right now.

good luck stiletto. i hate changes in life, especially meeting new people. im curious, do you have the girls banging out at every interview or do you hide them away? fingers crossed for the former.

I know you're not cheap but are you easy? :qt:

Oh and best of wishes in the continued hunt.

Cheers,
Scotsman

did you go back to the other company?? a follow up as it were??

lol, no, but since i have applied for a position there, i'm worried that if they do call me, i'll show up and they'll all laugh.

"oh no. she's back."

you could always explain what happened and make a funny story out of it. going back will show your desire for the job opportunity.

yeah, i'd go back and explain.
it's not that hard to make the mistake, and I'd explain that i was hoping their company had called me the first time.

good idea. that will make them remember you even more.

I can hear Desi Arnaz now, "Luuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccyyyyy!!!"

That so sounds like an excerpt from my everyday life.

*phew*

I don't feel so bad now! :lmao:
