when people post up here about a new TV or motorcycle, i'm pretty sure it's because THEY are buying it, not their parents.
and since you've been here a short amount of time, and already told us a few times about your degree, and your acceptance to a prestigious graduate degree, and the fact that you've never worked at a paying job until now, and all about your wonderful boyfriend, you're accumulating a reputation as a braggard.

so really, what were you expecting to get when you post a pic of an expensive, girly cake on a fitness site? especially after you know that a few people have commented on you coming across as stuck up?

1. In my profile where it asks about education, that's where i put it. So that's how people know - I never bragged.. I was excited about graduating.
2. graduate school is also in my profile and peeps had asked me before which is how all the arguements go started
3. worked = yes. Paid = no (except for the last month).
4. what does the boyfriend have to do with this? Obviously that pulled a lot of entertainment in thanks to a few peeps (especially all the whey who was hilarious).

I never asked them. They offered. I don't do thinkgs like that to impress. You must really not know who I am. And that's fine because it's hard on here. They were willing to get me a cake and so I said thank you because I wanted some type of dessert for people. It's with my family and close friends. I don't need to impress. I just want to enjoy and have a good time and eat some good cake.

This is my FAMILY - they don't care to impress their own family nor do they have to. That is not the kind of people they are... they give more than they take and for a special occassion, they asked me if I would like this - I've never had a cake like that so I said thank you very much, I think it would be fun.

I never thought about the whole "impressing," thing until you brought it up. Again, I don't think like that.

they are all things you've posted about, because you wanted us to know you are different. that you are smart and well educated. that you come from class and that you vollunteer because you're a good person. you posted pics so we see that not only are you all those things, but you are pretty too.

The cake is not 1,000! I never said how much it was and you don't know my parents at all. You have no idea. When they do things they like to make OTHERS happy and here, they asked me and I said yes I would like that (I had never had a cake like that) and so they were happy I was happy. Hard concept to understand. My parents honestly don't give a shit to impress people. I'm not even going to explain... but of course.. people always think that if someone spends a lot on something or people who have money, etc, that they are trying to impress.. here's something.. NOT ALL ARE LIKE THAT.

I trust my judgment as someone who just FINISHED planning their wedding less than 3 years ago and who wants to go into the wedding biz on the side.

Those cakes are NOT cheap anywhere and are only made to impress as they never taste very good. They are frozen zillions of times.

A - He knew that I had NEVER had a car that was remotely as nice and he wanted to make me feel like a princess. B - I am the wife of an oil and gas executive so you had better believe that there is a very great degree of having to play the role. Who THE FUCK is going to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars with my husband if they dont view him as being "successfull"?


The cake is pretty, that is true. But PUH-LEASE dont even TRY to say that YOU AND YOUR PARENTS aren't remotely trying to impress anyone. I know many extremely wealthy people - not just well off - but wealthy. THERE IS ALWAYS some degree of "playing that part" when one is not behind closed doors. Who they are when out from under the watchfull eyes of others (and this especially includes family) is a horse of another color.

I loved my dad's/step mom. Theirs was great and very simple (taste wise)

Hell, I can make one of those here at the drive up window place I work for about 9 bucks, all I have to do is take Heatheraes extrathick shakes and Gambino & mountain muscles fries, mix em in the blender "POOF" a $9.00 extra special cake, IP wouldn't know the difference. Just add a couple "(0's) on the receipt I print out at the window. (Don't use crayon)

inquisit... congrats on the graduation... I think the cake is really bubbly and pretty but not exactly different. Its not square like others but still I would put it in the class of a bday cake for a teen. I'd shoot for something different, custom (if that is indeed what you want) Hell... design your own... I promise you, someone around your area could create something very unique for you...

I personally would opt for something in the shape of a diploma half open... red vel, or vanilla... mmmmmmmm... well... actually, I wouldn't give a damn about the cake, I would be to occupied with the drinks.. .LOL

still... that cake it really cute, but think with a little creativity you could come up with something really different and more unique.

think about it.

My wedding cake. Price? FREE Was the gift from my maid of honor - my best gf... she had her cake lady make it for us. Doesn't hurt that she runs the show over at Baltrusol. LOL

My God this makes me even more thankful that I am not like those peeps. My parents are not trying to impress anyone and neither am I. My party will consist of my close family members and close friends. That's it. So really, I've known them my whole life and there is no need for impressing. I never thought of it that way - I just loved that cake because it was so creative.. like out of a fairy tale. Maybe how you grew up or your life experiences shaped you to believe this but I'm being 100% honest that I never even thought about impressing people until you guys brought it up. If I wanted to impress... I'd have my parens throw me a huge party at some banquet hall... have everything catered...etc etc. I don't care for that. I just want to have a good time and thats it. Think what you want :) I know how I am so that's what matters. P.S. That was very sweet of your hubby and I am sure you deserved it. =)

And then you went so far as to tell me I was wrong that I HAD to be trying to impress peeps which was not the case... that's when I got offended.

there is some grade-A ugliness on this thread. i'm so disappointed in humanity right now, i'm going out to drown a little person. not a child, that would be sick, but just a midget. or a dwarf. i don't care.

it is possible, just maybe, that her original intentions were not to throw her life of privilege in everyone's collective face (i love the word FACE). even if she is a total princess (and i'm not saying that), and even if she is putting that on display for us...there's a limit to the crap you can sling. considering how shitty people (yes, you and me) can be, her shortcomings are not that big of a deal. you can't justify post after post of analysis and explanation -- whatever she is, she's not the devil. i think. god, the fucking voices. make them stop.

anyway, if it is true that she's spoiled and selfish and pretentious, it's just as true that we love nastiness and mudslinging. that's what this thread is about, more than her cake.
