Thay would be okay in glute if you were a small framed and/or very lean. Try and guage it such a way to get in the middle of the muscle belly. I'd put that needle in my quad without thinking about it. Get an assortment of sizes for all your spots... A good selection but not limited to would be.

You can shorten longer needles by clipping the cap back. Don't burry the needle in ya, leave enough like 3/16 out of the skin, just in case it breaks off you can pull it out. I've never heard of or seen one break, yet.
It sounds like you may be pulling this out of an amp. Warm the amp up first under some warm water and it will make the oil flow a little easier, reducing pressue and shaking. Wipe the amp down with alcohol before opening.

I would advise you massage the area for awhile now as it may help alleviate some of the soreness which may accompany this in the following days...
You may have soreness for a few days and it is very common, especially when first starting out.

I just started my first cycle ever about 2 weeks ago. The first shot was the hardest for me. It didn't hurt at all, just a little pinch but I was scared of the unknown as far as my mind was concerned.
I have had 3 shots total to date since the start of my cycle. I am doing 400mg of deca and 400mg of test in one shot. I start to feel the soreness about an hour or so after the shot. It ususally goes away in like 3 or 4 days. It is nothing real bad, but I can feel it. Also, I alternate left and right glute from week to week. Just so you are aware, you may and probably will feel some soreness.
