My final words on Platinum

It costs six grand a month JUST for the steadily increasing bandwidth needed for a site this size [the archives alone are absolutely awesome] and a big chunk of that is taken up by the pictures on the picture board which a lot of members don't even bother visiting too often so they had to be made Platinum to stop the site running at a loss!
So it's pretty simple really if you wanna talk on this board or the chat board it's free but if you wanna use up a shitload of bandwidth space by posting or downloading loads of pictures all the time then it is totally justified that you pay! Don't you think???

www.delphi.com

its free, the interface owns, and plenty of bandwidth...

dont waste money on a huge pipe just because of gear pictures..

Well George,

I will be supporting EF by Friday by purchasing a Platinum membership. I just hope your not blowing smoke up our butt to cover a bad debt or putting a down payment on a mansion. All the info here is well worth the 12 bucks a month. I mean it's only the price of 2 extra value meals at the Golden Arches.

George- I think there are some extremely well read individuals on this board, in addition to the mods who, I assume, get comped memberships to platinum. My suggestion would be to get the mods opinions and put together a small list of members who's contributions to the board are seen as "must reads" and then comp them platinum memberships. In this sence, I don't think post count is so valuable. This can be done confidentially. This concept is analogous to clubs, restaurants, and, well, everbody comping celebrities. The cost of their dinner, drinks, or membership far out-weigh the price of the celebrity 'being seen' in the place. I workout in a gym that is known to comp a lot of pro BBers and fitness models. A member saying "So and so, pro BBer, works out at my gym" is a priceless source for referals.

This would also inspire other members to get platinum memberships as well. I mean, they will go to where the heavy hitters post. I can even see persuading these heavy hitters to completely or 'mostly' post on platinum. If you get these guys in your back pocket, other members will follow. Some of these hitters would ultimately buy platinum memberships.. But there are others who obviously contribute far more knowledge to the board than the knowlege they gain. These are guys who just like helping people out and enjoy healthy debate. You might have a harder time getting some of these hitters over on platinum.

i feel that this site is great and soon as i a have gainful employment again i am sure ill join. i think the reason you got soooo much crap about the pay site is that it was kinda just sprung on people. i know i knew nothing of it untill i tried to get into the pics of women site. then i had to search around for why. i know you still would have recieved crap from a few but i am sure not as many if notice was put out there.
one thing i didnt like is when you said "I am really sad that you are too cheap to support this site. " that i feel isnt the total truth and it may have been said out of anger not a true responce that would have been given by such a professional as you. i will look forward to this site for a long time to come. keep up the good work and remember when you get acustomed to not having to pay for something then you have to it is agrivating on this end also. thanks
