My final Deadlift?

Here's me back in October pulling 475 lbs. I have dropped a lot of fat since then. Unfortunately I tried pulling 490 a couple of weeks after this and pulled or tore a muscle or two in my lower back and cannot train deadlifts now. I probably would struggle to pull 400 now. However I'm down to 165 lbs. and my body is much leaner. In this video I was around 180-185 lbs. I had started cutting when this video was taken. I began my cutting phase when I got up to 201 lbs. So, I'm roughly 35 lbs. lighter now give or take a couple of pounds. Bod Pod tests showed 12% body fat a couple of weeks ago. I'm still trying to lose some fat on my stomach. I'd love to hit the beach this summer sporting some chiseled abs.

It's normal for your deadlift to go down when you loose weight. When you loose a lot of weight, your midsection circumference will decrease. Your range of motion when deadlifting will be that much larger as a result.

You aren't actually getting weaker, you just have a way longer path you need to move the weight.

Same thing with your squat. It's normal to get weaker in your squat as your waist size goes down because you are able to squat much deeper into the hole.

weightlifters have weight classes for a reason. also how much weight you do on the deadlift is the most ridiculous thing i hear in the gym. means nothing. the form i see from these stupid kids is ridiculous. they think cause they got a belt, gloves, straps and headphones they are pro's lol anyone can do heavy deadlifts with bad form, i'm not impressed.

the ones that impress me are the ones who lift raw with 100% accurate form, which is probably 2-3% of the guys i see in the gym
