Well last semester I tried to get a dorm and didn't. So now I'm trying again. I went to the office and they asked if I was a "commuter" and when I said yes, all they do is put me on a Commuter waiting list. Well I have a feeling that I'm going to get denied a room once again.
I can't stand driving for over 2 hours every day because my school, my house and work are all spread out far. So my plan is to try and Bullshit my way into getting some action here.
I'm a junior so I so thought I'd have some preference over other students but apparently not. They put me on a list but I know that there is going to be a swarm of freshmen and they will get rooms
Back to the plan: I'm going to say that my parents are moving away. So I wrote a letter to some lady in the Residence life office. here it is:
Dear Michell,
I was just looking for advice about applying for a dorm on the Queens Campus. I'm currently a Junior at the University and I'd like to continue my studies there, but I have a slight problem. My parents are considering selling their house in New York and Moving away from the area of St. Johns University. My only option to continue attending St. Johns is to try and get a Dorm room. I went to residence life to apply for a dorm but they put me on a Commuter waiting list. I was placed on a waiting list for Spring 2003 and came up empty handed. It is my fear that i will not be able to get a room for the upcoming Fall 2003 semester and be forced to stop attending the university.
Is there a way that i can be guarenteed a dorm by staying on the commuter list? Or should I be put on the "in need of residence" list because of my situation.
If you are not the proper person for me to send this to I only ask that you can foward this to the correct person.
Conerned Student,
ANYONE THINK THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO GET SOME ACTION DONE ON MY PART?
