My dog is so smart!

When I'm on the computer Gizmo tends to just play with the other dog and ignore me....unless he wants something. If he wants something he comes in here and sits by my chair and gives one soft "woof".

I tell him "show me". That results in him either running and pawing the front door, pawing his water bowl, pawing his food dish, or pawing the hutch where treats are. The last one he figured out on his own because I didn't teach it to him. lol He just got what "show me" meant and apparently figured if he pawed the treat hutch he'd get one. As cute as it is, he doesn't get a treat just because he wants one.

My dog knows that if my girl lets him he will get a treat when he comes back in SO he constantly askes to go out for about 2 minutes then want to come back in. She thinks it is cute I know he is just playing her, i asked him for advice on how i could do that also, his lips were sealed

DG- he gets it now. She needs to wean him off treats and onto just praise. She needs to praise like he's the best dog ever. It'll still give him the satisfaction but it's not as fun to exploit.

Sometimes I think dogs are smarter than humans. When I was 18, I was in a bad car accicent, broke 2 ribs, shattered my hand, and had my face stitched up and came home with a HUGE bandage over half of my head. My dog (buttons) was the only one there when I came home...she walked out from the bathroom with her ears hung low...sad look on her face, and I could just tell she knew I was hurt.

I layed down on the couch, she jumped up next to me on the coutch and slept with me for about 6 hours...wouldnt let anyone near me.

Jack SChitt - I have a similar story, but more tragic. After me and the parents left, my sister got a dalmatian. My grandpa was sick on his deathbed and the day that he died she felt it and wouldnt walk in the room no matter how much my sister was begging her and giving her treats. She was just standing by the door and howling waiting for my granps to let his soul out

My dog is VERY smart... If I leave the door open, Maxx will walk right up to Pete, "Pete is my Australian Shephard" and sit right in front of him. Pete will walk away. Maxx would tear his shit up. See? Pete knows to walk away. BUT, he never used to and his nose paid for it.... whoops
