My doctor is a quack.....

I go to see him about my shoulder injury, and he asked how I did it. I told him by lifting.....so he persists to ask if I take any supps...I told him just an MRP, multi, and aminos, and he said don't wste your money. He said it doens't matter how much protein you get, because it doesn't help you grow. I said what? He then began by saying that it is 100% genetic and also how much weight you lift (he was taling about quantity)...he said if you want to get big do light weight and as many reps as I can 6 days a week. By this time I had to keep myself from laughing. He also wanted to make sure I wasn't on creatine because it causes liver cancer. I almost died from holding my breath too long. He said ne nw this because he ws big into lifting when he was in the army (you couldn't tell now..he's about 5'9" 240lbs).

He then diagnosed my shoulder as being dislocated. I don't know whether to believe him or not. They did x-rays, but hadn't looked at them yet. I have a feeling he may be right about that since I do have a bone sticking up in the area where the pain is.

I do think I need to find a new doc....or maybe a chiropractor??

Big Bazooka asks a good question. Consider it.

You need a second opinion, I personally would of walked out with the quickness leaving him with "if it were legal to throw people through windows your dumb ass would be first on my list today". peace

Or did he look like this?

:lmao: at big bazooka

i read all kinds of fucked up shit from 'scientific sources'.....doesnt mean their all right/correct

one dietician said in the newspapr bodybuilders eat too much protein "(probably right in genral) but he was insinuationg the RDA for protein is adequate (about 50 g), and even that is too much as 'muscle doesnt have that much protein in it

i also heard them say in the same paper (from a Dr.-in biotech or something) that the only way to achieve a 6-pack is to do 500 sit-ups a day or take steroids [article on rise of roid use]

i mean seriously WTF?!? how do these people get column space? i read one damn articvle about how blood group determines what your diet should be, so if your the wrong blood type you shouldnt eat fruit or veg. stuff like this amazes me....

Dude. On the top of your shoulder, there is a bone with a "tip" on it. That's where your clavicle ends. Push down on it real hard. If you get a lot of pain, you probably have what I have which is "weighlifter's shoulder". I don't remember the technical name for it. The end of the clavicle is enflamed and rubs against the bone in the shoulder. You'd probably feel a "popping" if you move it the wrong way. I got a cortisone injection, which helped for a while, but my doc says I will need arthrocopic surgery after the baseball season. I would get a second opinion regardless.

That is exactly where it hurts, but that bone is sitting up quite a bit higher then my other side. I get most of my pain only during pressing excercises..how about you? I've been reading about A.R.T. on here, T-mag, and the ART website. I might go see a provider. Check it out.

It's funny you mention ART because Corn recommended that to me last night after he finished massaging SSME's buttocks. I thought that was mainly for scar adhesions, though, which I have a plethora of in my elbow from surgery 2 1/2 years ago.

Yeah...it hurts mainly on pressing movements. Also when I do tricep pressdowns believe it or not.

Sounds like we need to make an appointment with Corn (for our shoulders):D

Actually I taled to an ART practioner yesterday and he said ART could help me alot if it is what I explained. He said that he would have to examine it to be sure..obviously. He said docs are we to quick to jump to surgery, unless something is torn. We'll see though..it's only like $50 if my insurance doesn't cover it.

My Doc is the worst.

The last time I went in for a physical, he grabbed my knees and told me to cough then hit me in the nuts with a mallet.

Why most doctors are quacks!! Just do what I do:

- Prescribe your own medicine :santa2:

- Interpret and order your bloodwork :frackal:

- Lie to him

Essentially you can be your own doctor just like me!

I had surgery about 2 months ago on my left shoulder from almost identical pain you are talking about. MRI showed that there wasn't enough of a gap between the bursa sacs and my clavicle........ so they shaved the clavicle.........It feels 100% better now. Still get some pain when I do military press........so I don't do it or I do it with DB's and don't go to heavy.

MRI is the only way to see........X-rays will only show if bone is broken or chipped..etc.......

You too? What a small world.

You guys think you got quacks!?!?!

I'm starting to think my dentist is a quack. Everytime I go for a checkup he asks me to pull down my pants. What's that about?

YES

The worst doctors are company doctors, where they send you if you get hurt at work.:( All they try to do is point the blame at something else besides work.

You lift weights don't you?
Maybe that is where you hurt it?

Why even call these quacks doctors?

No way man... your doctor MUST be right. He went to COLLEGE! Yeehaw.
