I lost my driver's license. I need a new one. I also needed to renew my tags for my car.
I go to the DMV...
Up to the Info desk, where you get your ticket #....
The person asks, what are you here for?
I am renewing my tags, and I need to obtain a new license.
Do you have 2 forms of ID?
I pull out a driver's license that has been expired, exactly 1 month over a year, and a social security card.
I am advised that the driver's license isn't a valid form of ID, because it is expired more than 12 months.
So, I take care of my tags.
I go back yesterday, to obtain a license. This time I have my birth certificate and social security card.
This old rude jerk, says your social security card isn't accepted as a valid form of identification. I was like, I wasn't told this and I am now in here for the second time.
He says, well I will give you a ticket, and you can take your stuff up front, but they are going to tell you that it isn't valid.
I said, why in the hell would I wait here for 30 minutes, just so they can tell me that I can't obtain a license?
He ignored me and walked away. It took everything that I had not to pull a Satanic Goatslayer on his ass {sorry SG, I thought that this was appropriate here}.
Anyways, I get a list of things that represent a valid ID.
One is your license.
Another is INS/immigration papers.
Birth Certificate.
Military ID.
And a whole bunch of other foreign documentation.
Here is my fucking problem. I have lived here for 26 years. I have a valid Driver's License, and I am in the fucking system. I don't have any other form of identification that says that I am me.
I turn around and there are approx 20 or so foreigners, mostly of mexican descent. They speak virtually no english, and they can obtain anything they want at the God damn DMV.
I have an expired license w/ photo id, which was issued by the DMV, and they won't accept it. They won't accept my social security card, with my name, and ssn on it, which matches my birth certificate and expired license, not to mention that if they type in my last name, they will see a beautiful picture of my mug on their screen.
WTF? Ok... done. Sorry, thanks for listening.
