tough as nails, stretchy as a balloon... it's all the same.

Don't let them cut you, if you tear a little it'll be superficial and trust me you will NOT feel it! when it happens I tore a pinch, never even felt the stitches, they just used some topical spray stuff, done deal.heatherrae said:How do you feel about episiotomies? All the research I've done makes me think that they are more harm than good.
This entire pregnancy, so far, I have had back pain and uterine pain and gas EVERY DAMN DAY. That is about it, except for sore boobs, but the back pain starts to wear on my mood, bigtime. Makes me weepy.
OH, Thanks, sweetie! I love raspberry tea, anyway. I'll go get that stuff tomorrow. Yeah, I do think every pregnancy is different. Sounds like good advice!musclemom said:Don't let them cut you, if you tear a little it'll be superficial and trust me you will NOT feel it! when it happens I tore a pinch, never even felt the stitches, they just used some topical spray stuff, done deal.
Go to a midwife, honey, it's more sane, seriously.
Look, the truth is, childbirth can hurt, but I've had MUCH worse pain in my life. If someone had TOLD me that, YES, there's a chance it's gonna hurt, it wouldn't have been so damn bad because I wouldn't have been so frightened. Everyone kept using "polite words" saying things like pangs or discomfort. I wasn't having "pangs" or "discomfort" it fucking hurt and I was scared that something was VERY wrong. Now if I were to have a baby, it wouldn't be so bad, I've done it, and I've experienced MUCH, MUCH worse pain since that delivery 22+ years ago.
NOW, that being said, I personally know a LOT of women who have had babies naturally and they honestly found it to be not much more unpleasant than bad cramps, I shit you not. MY labor experience isn't going to be YOUR labor experience just like Angels isn't the same as Frisky's, etc., etc., etc. It's always different for every woman and from pregnancy to pregnancy.
As for the gas and uterine cramps, peppermint and red raspberry tea. Check this site, dear:

Herbs need to be taken regularly for efficacy, but I've heard of raspberry for years. If you consume a cup or two a day it should help with the labor too.
You also should get a bottle of acidophillus and take one a day for a week, then take one every other day or so.

I wish mine was that easy. I tore with both my kids, HUGE with my second son and a bit with my first. The first started to tear and the MD asked me if I wanted her to cut because she thought I was going to tear more. she used counter pressure to slow him down and i was able to control my pushes but damn... you are right you dont feel it when it happens... but after.. gawd!!! My second came too quick and I pushed cause I wanted him out. I tore and it took 28 stitches to fix. not just 2 like the first. It hurt like hell and took about 3 months to finally heal up.. still a bit sensitive to this day. I wish I had just gone ahead and said yes You never know what you're going to get with child birth, to be flexible will help you the most.

hahaha...that is funny!radarstoy said:Heatherae why are you worrying about stuff that's not going to happen for months down the road. Like MM said every experience is different. Listening to all the horror stories is going to freak you out. I have three kids, all natural, no drugs, all cut (tearing is not a good thing). 7.11 - 2 hours; 7.2 - 2 hours; 10 - 20 mins. The only words that came out of my mouth were "get that mirror out of the way I'm watching the smurf's". No kiddingGood luck sweetie

Some words of wisdom spoken there. Everyone is different, you know? Some ladies do better with less info and breeze through ... but some of us want EVERY excruciating detail, because NOT knowing makes us nuts. Considering HR is a lawyer, I'm betting on her being a "Devil in the details" kind of woman.radarstoy said:Heatherae why are you worrying about stuff that's not going to happen for months down the road.
