keep sending me notices saying that i owe X-amout of money??

common people!
*shaking my head*

I got one for Flex magazine before cause dumbass girlfriend didnt send it in when it was supposed to be my christmas present.

They can sue you, but it'll take a year or two before they get to that point. Until then, ignore them if you don't intend to pay right now (or at all).

i don't know if it works in canada like this -- but never dispute it with the credit reporting agency. it forces the creditor to sue you. At least that's what i've heard.

im not disputing anything.
i know i DO owe the money, they're just being gay
i said i will pay, when i get money..simple as that :)

Do your best to set up a payment plan or give them an idea of when you'll be able to. They'll work with you. If you don't, your phone will be ringing off the hook.

the only reason it went to them was because i switched jobs
for the better hours, and it was straight commition....and i wasnt making dough for a while so i had to quit

oh well.. i know one day soon i wont ever have to worry about bs like this again

no they wont work with you if you cant send them what they want. if you say i can only send $100 they want $500. they are told to always ask for more. then threaten you which is illegal. just write down what they say and even record the conversation or at leased tell it is so they will have to watch what they say cause then you can sue them for harrassment. collections work both ways bro.

If the prospect of buying a house, getting a good rate on a car, or getting any sort of loan in general over the next 7 years is of interest to you, you may want to call them and at least show that you plan on making good on your obligation.

Some is better than none, and they will more often settle for less than the full balance. I don't have much personal experience with it, but have helped clients and dealt with these loser collections employees.

The non prime market is very agressive lately and money is easy to get. 7 years isn't really the case anymore. But, payments should always be made. If you're in that bad of a position, look into a BK.

Ask to speak with her supervisor. When he/she gets on the phone, explain that their associate was behaving in a shitty manner, then tell him in a confident tone that you are not the kind of person who skips out on their financial obligations and that your top priority once you find work is to pay them what you owe.

They are used to people hanging up on them. They arent used to people showing them any form of respect.

just be careful about the speaking to the supervisor. sometimes its another employee acting as one or they are better at collecting and will say things that arent true to scare you into paying what you dont have. be careful. go to http://www.budhibbs.com/ there is a ton of info here about the collections process. lots of helpful stuff.

They want money now -- so they can move onto harassing newer "clients".

They're collections, not billing. They don't have the time, resources or expense to keep billing you each month, and subsequently harassing you each time you miss a payment. Eats up their already small profits.
