Hello all, just wanted to share a real life story with you and see what ya'll think about it. Here it goes...
Our club is full every thrus-saturday with around 400 people. We are located in the midwest US in a city which is 88% white and the rest equal split of Mexican/Black/Native Am. peoples. I was moved from a bar backing job, to the head doorman position a couple of months ago when we were overran with riff-raf night after night. I now enforce a dress code which covers everything from a-z. I assume i was chosen because i'm the biggest employee at 6'4" 290lbs and very athletic for playing college football. The most enforced things are no sideways hats, durags, bandannas, jerseys, or excessively baggy clothing or heavy neck chains. My only problems are with the minorities. Primarly the blacks who come from a near by air force base, and mexicans who are migrant workers. These guys come in and dont spend any money, sit in a big group by the pool tables to ambush white girls going to the bathroom or just of the dance floor. Saying things like "why you look so good" and other garbage. We have had servers groped, women sexually harassed on a regular basis prior to the dress code. Don't get me wrong, we have a few very classy black men who come in and buy bottles on a regular basis, However I'm speaking about 90% of them. I know a few blacks on my fball team who are alright, not friends just teammates. I'm wasnt racist at all until I started this job and saw how they really are.
I tell a white boy to take his jeresey off, he does it without hesitation. no problems.
I tell a group of blacks or mexicans that their clothes are too baggy and this is what i get... every time!
first... man whatchu talkn bout...these is shots (shorts)
second... they get angry... man what this dude talkn bout, knawmean?
then they try to pull their pants/shorts up, i say no guys , your just going to pull them down inside... and point to the sign.
Then they stand around is a circle with their heads cocked, talkin jibberish, till one one them comes to negociate with me... i refuse again and then..
THE RACE CARD... they point inside...look at this white boy, his shits like ours... fuck yall... cracker this cracker that... "dont be prejedice" is a favorite or "just cuz im a minority". Then i have to take my cell phone out and threaten to call the cops. I'm a very large intimidating guy like I mentioned before and havnt had any physical confrontations with them... but i feel its just a matter of time.
The last few weekends we have about 10-20 just stand around in the streets by their "rides" waiting for the women to come out or to cause problems. Two weeks ago 6 of them jumped a white kid in an ajacent parking lot... knocked him out cold, and proceded to circle stop him. One of our bouncers probably saved his life by spraying the group down with pepper spray. The kid came and talked to me sat. night at the door. His face was all fucked up still.. He said they broke his nose, jaw, eye socket, couple ribs.
I had to vent and share my story... I would love to hear your opinions/advice/thoughts on this matter!
