No, slipknot does not just sound like noise to me, i do happen to like heavy wstuff, like slayer, but i find there is a big deiiference in the quality of slayer(that i have heard) and slipknot who i have no time for..heard once(alot) hated never again.

Buffal2001 is a friend of mine and does know his shit when it comes to music...he tutours music for fuck sake!

I agree with the guys that say slipknot are shit. They may be entertaining to watch (to laugh at...rolling around on the floor in those 'scary' masks), but what they play sure does sound shit.

If you have to listen that hard to get the 'riffs' like someone said before, then its just not good music. Good music's usually pretty easy to listen to because you like it, no matter how heavy it is.

The reason slipknot are popular is because they've been marketed well. Their 'shocking' image sells well to little kids just like Marilyn Manson. Kids dont like slipknot because they sound good, they like it because its something different.

You think slipknot would be so sucessful if they lost the image but still played the same music?

And as ive already pointed out it dont mean shit when its his opinion. I had a music teacher who started to teach me how to play guitar, and his opinion was that anybody who used anything other than a classical guitar was shit. I dont see how your friend tutoring music helps your arguement in any way.

I never said that it wasnt easy to listen to. I said that i didnt like it too much the first time, but liked it more as i listened to it. Its happened with other albums ive bought as well.

So how did they sell so many copies of Slipknot then, when they hadnt been marketed yet? Becasue they had fans, not 15 year old teenie boppers, who went out and bought the album because they like this kind of music.

Yeah, losing the image would cripple them. All those fantastic interactive CD's with videos of everysong on so you can see the band as well as listen to the album whilest at home would be screwed wouldnt they? I mean what the fuck? In case you havent noticed, Slipknot sell their albums on CD. The loss of image would only affect them if theywere releasing their albums primarily on DVD or VHS.

It was me. Firstly I didnt say i would kill you, i said that if you tried to hit me you would only make that mistake once, as in, i would make sure you didnt take a second swing at me. But the point here is this.

I said that slipknot were a poor band. Thats my opinion. I never forced it upon anyone else by saying "This is what you must think" Thats called fascism. And im no fascist.

However i think that some of the claims that slipknot are a bad band have groundings.I thinks its hard to say that their arnt just noise, but then again thats only my opinon.

I like bands to talk about issues that i can relate to. Now im not talking about some pop-punk band lamenting the loss of a girlfriend 15 years ago. I mean real bands with real issues. Thats why i listen to bands Like Tool, RATM and SOAD> These bands sing about things which really matter, stuff that can affect out everyday lives. And although some of the stuff they talk about happens thousands of miles away from my, they still inspire me to get up and do things about what i feel is important. Thats why i find it hard to listen to music that talks about pain and death etc. If you like that sort of stuf, then fair enough.

If you are a fan of classical guitar playing, i e. solo's and old school metal, its very hard to see slipknot as anything other than percussive noise. Thats my opinion. Thats not me saying they are bad musicians, in fact, i rate Joey as one of the best drummers i have ever, EVER seen. And i know what im talking about.

Notice that not once have i used offensive or threatening language. That is because this is a discussion board, not a slagging match. So i really think that 6(sic)6 and co should calm down. It sounds to me as if you are trying to force you opinon on others. Then again thats my opinion
