Right first of I would like to say that some of the people here are some of the most closed mided, thick skulled individuals I have ever had the misfortune to come across on a message board.

right now ive said that, heres my points.

1. Slipknot were auditioned. Whafuk? I have every Kerrang within the last 18 months, and ive never seen anything in it to say that they were an auditioned boy band. I dont think anybody on these boards should just accept that what you say is right, because you say so, which is what your expecting. Give us proof.

2. Slipknot are shit. Thats YOUR OPINION. The operative word there is OPINION. You get your friend in who's had 1000 records sold. Big fucking deal. I could get someone in who's sold more than that, who is a Slipknot fan. At the end of the day its your friends opinion. just coz he's in a fucking band dont make him right. I know several people who are in bands that do like Slipknot, so whos right here eh? No one. Its what you like.

3. They have no where near the talent of a band like Metallica. Your basing this off albums like Load and Reload yes? Im a Metallica fan, but recently they have lost a lot of respect, and the last albums have been shit. If you cant see this then take of the blinkers you have on to give you such a narrow view of the world and have a look. They have got to do a lot to make a good album now.

4. Slipknot are nu-metal. Ignorance at its best. go and listen to Linkin Park. I happen to like them, they make good music, but they are nu-metal. Now listen to Slipknot. Come back and post if you can see the diffirence.

5. Slipknot is gothic music. No that is bullshit. Im at university and one of the most popular bands here is Slipknot, and these are sure as fucking hell not 15 year old goths.

6. Slipknot arent popular. I think someone already posted the awards theyve won here. And the amount of copies of their albums theyve sold. And the tours theyre on. If you want to ignore stuff like that then why are you on a "discussion" board? you should be on an "Im right, agree or get flamed." board. Slipknot are popular, people like them, and people go to see them. Deal with it.

Yes that was why this whole shit started, sic compared slipknot to metallica and i dont care about opinion, no one in this world(who knows rock/metal or whatever you want to call it) can say slipknot are superiour in talent to metallica.
I was not talking about reload or load, i was talking about metallica's music on the whole, take any album, i agree that the load and reload are weaker than their previous material but are still great albums(again, my opinion)
I have heard every metallica album there is, like them all....black album and ride the lightening are my favourites.
I still think metallica can make great albums, probably will never make another classic like their 80's material due to the originallity of those albums(exp at that time)

I would class slipknot as nu metal. Yeah, linkin park is nu metal, but are a diferent kind of nu metal from slipknot, disturbed, korn and other heavier bands.

I dont know why all of you seem to think i have never heard slipknot, i have and dont want to hear them again...i have sat downand tryed to figure out what people see in them, but call me an old man, but it just sounds like noizzze.

Again, in my opinion slipknot are a gothic band, at least 99% of their followers from around hear are....I think anyone with eyes can see that they are gothic, but does that matter, maybe where u all live u class gothic by other means than we do here.

Sic, when i mentioned those bands, i was comparing them in talent not under a label...alternative, metal, rock whatever....
Rock and metal are not that far apart, yes slipknot are as heavy as heavy comes so it is hard to compare them to hole or the foo fighters, but Dave from the foo fighters is awesome and extremly talented (used to be drummer in nirvana, played everything on 'the colour and the shape')

I odnt know about you, but iron maiden are one of the best metal bands ever, like them or not(yeah cheesy as hell) but have set the way for what metal is today.

Dont take the piss out of queen, No doubt in my mind he had the best voice in rock music ever.
Brian may is an awesome guitarist and cant be compared with any of slipknot's 20 guitarists.

Yes you may of said "lets leave it at that", its just that you had already kicked off and tried to force your opinion on people already. And i believe what you actually said was "i think they are shit, you dont, they suck, lets leave it at that", trying to get the last word. And as for your friend, it doesnt make a diffirence either way. i know some guys I train with who are in a band that make Slipknot sound light (Im not kidding, these guys make music you dont want your parents to hear!), and one of them worships Slipknot, one of them hates them. As i said, just becasue hes in a band doesnt give him a better opinion, or make him right.

Well it depends on your view of the two bands. Slipknot have 9 members who all play together, in tune at the same time, whch is a lot harder than have 4 guys playing together. But if you dont like really heavy stuff you probably wont appreaciate the originality, and sheer genius of the original album.

As for Metallica, if Hetfiled ever gets out of rehab then they might make a good album though i agree they wont be able to match their early stuff. Metallica is my fav album, every song on that album is a classic!

Well i cant say about Disturbed as i havent had a chance to listen to much of their stuff yet, but Slipknot are not nu-metal. Ive been listening to metal for a long time and it aint nu metal. And Kerrang say they aint nu metal, and they would know what theyre tslking about.

See im thinking i might see where the problem is here. What is your deffinition of a Goth? I did just write out the diffirence between Goths and metalheads but it got confusing. Thje diffirences are subtle but there. trust me, as i have a lot of friends who are Goths, and they can tell you that it isnt Gothic Music. And theyve travelled to clubs all over the country to listen to stuff.

As ive already said here if you dont like heavy stuff you wont appreaciate Slipknot, you will just hear noise. The first time i heard Slipknot, thats all i heard. After i listened to it some more though the riffs and drumbeats came out and i realised its a very complex album. But you have to like that stuff. If you dont you will never hear what im talking about.
