Muscletech suit? Opinions here

What's up w/ that? Muscletech wants to shut down elite, censor what we say about Muscletech, and wants a list of names of people who've talked crap about them? What does everyone in here think?
 
Well, that is some bullshit coming from Muscletech. I was wondering if the Elite Fitness had any kind of disclaimer on this site that protects the site from being sued for stupid things like this.
 
We do right on the home page. But here's the rub. They know they have no chance of winning, but can cause us to spend a fortune defending ourselves.
 
They realize they have absolutely no chance of winning such case, then they'd also be wasting money for paying their attorney(s).
 
I think it's total crap. We shouldn't be restricted on informing other people on the board whether or not we think something sucks or not. That's ones own opinion! I feel pretty angry towards muscletech to say the least.

i think it is a bunch of crap how they are demanding the names of the usernames that criticized them, we have our opinion of their products and that is just bullshit that they are trying to get us in trouble for it. i dont agree with it at all.

But it'll also cost them a good amount of money to go after you. Is that worth it to them just to quash some chat board talk?
 
Well in one aspect they can kill this board and hope there's less people talking crap about them and more people will buy their products.

In another aspect... If they really want to do that it would be utter stupidity IMO b/c they will lose customers for one and for 2 there's a bunch of other boards out there waiting for new members. This will always continue, IMO there's no way to stop it.

What do they have to gain from this anyway? This is such a cheap shot. They were worried about a few opinions that people had about their product. Big Deal. Don't be a little bitch about it. Now they have people totally disgusted. They will lose alot more customers now. Business most be doing really bad I guess.

MUSCLE TECH you are only hurting yourself,, stuping this low is a childish act that will only take your company futher down. Free Speach cannot and will not be censored, if you were smart you would try and get along with the boards instead of fight with them.. You will lose!
 
Muscletech = Bullytech

This is a standard tactic of Muscletech. They did the same thing to T-Mag a while back claiming an article was slanderous because the article poked fun at their marketing tactics. They didn't have a leg to stand on in that case either. It just comes down to the fact that smaller businesses can't afford to fight these lawsuits and are forced to buckle.

Exactly. I mean, right now they've got a few people talking shit about their products. If they were to manage to shut down this board, they piss off each and every member. How is that good for them?
 
Never bought a Muscletech supplement and never will. And those that I meet and ask me about "Nitrotech" and "Celltech" I point them out to sometimes cheaper and more effective products I've used.

IMO it's no surprise a high priced company is not getting business in a "good" forum. Why b/c here we help each other out, find cheaper ways and cheaper websites that will offer us the same stuff for much less. And we give product reviews which does help out a lot too.
 
I agree that this muscle-tech threat of litigation is absurd. I have purchased their products before, and will not do so again. I also plan on writing them a letter and explaining to them the exact reason for not purchasing their products in the future.

I am considering sending a copy of that letter to their largest retailers as well. (i.e. GNC) essentially stating that I will not support a company that supports Muscle-tech.

May not do much, but will make me feel better about the whole thing.

DrGreenhill I was thinking about that too... this may all be a scare tactic and maybe in hopes of George doing some censorship around here. I respect this board a great deal b/c of how freely people can express themselves here.

Just an added note... seems like every kid in my block uses cell-tech. They always ask me what I take... From now on i'll tell them "pay me half price and i'll make the cell tech for you" I have enough dextrose to last me light years here lol.
 
George's letter really puts them to shame. i'd like to see if those bullies decide to say anything more. That company has gone to far and now they are going to pay for it. How many people are there on these boards if each and everyone refuses or a significant percentage refuses to buy muscletech products than i'd say that would be a start. Not to mention the many of us who will never advocate anyone using that "overpriced crap" anyways.

Muscletech can do themselves a favour and take their letter and shove it.

I was checking their site out, i go there every now and then, had to clear up a few rumors said about Elite. In any case they stand w/ most of us here in thinking Muscletech is overpriced and basically think in similar lines along w/ us in this whole issue.

I've heard GNC has underdosed supplements. But that's besides the point... It's way too overpriced. Only things I've bought from them were things that were clearenced.

Just a thought here... but you know most of us buy a big jug of whey for about $25 on the internet, more or less. And in a local joint it may costs as much as $45 or more, Ive seen it. Funny thing is they sell like hot cakes at that price! And the seller always says, "oh yes this will give you lean muscle mass like you wouldn't believe" lol.
 
No kidding. No more buying local for me either. Ive learned my lesson. I bought some cell tech one time. It did not work at all. EAS worked better for me.

it is too bad so many people still buy their sups at GNC but:

some people don't have internet
some don't have a credit card
it is more convenient to buy at a shop just next to your home
some newbie are naive and believe all the marketing hype from GNC
some don't look for the price
there is not a strong competitor

one thing i get 20 percent off GNC and no tax so for some stuff its cheaper after shipping then internet goods

And about GNC and all that crap. Most of us know that the people who work at GNC and supplement shops really don't know too much but pretend they do. But the other day I was in a shop and heard two employees talking after they had sold a "Muscle Enhancing Product" which was total crap IMO and overpriced crap at that. But they told the kid who was about 18, "Yes that will give you lean muscle gains w/ no fat" so the kid bought it. When the kid left the two employees stood their laughing and said, "It's amazing what people will buy, they just want you to tell them what they want to hear, then they'll buy it." Just a thought for some of the newbies here, don't trust those supplement shop folks.
 
First, a thought about GNC. They have commission programs that change from month to month. Each month they want the sales associate to push another product, and to encourage that, they will give them a commission on that particular product or line of products. It doesn't matter if its crap or not, it all depends on what companies they can get to participate in their programs. If you don't believe me, go in one month and ask a simple question, like "I want some creatine" or "I want some protein", etc... and see what is recommended to you. Then, go in a month or two later and ask the same question to, hopefully, the same associate, and you'll get a completely different product recommended to you. Talk about doing what's best for the customer. :rolleyes:

As for MuscleTech, they have no claim, but George is right, they can just push the issue to drain his pocket book. Each company has a fund that is specifically designated to try and put the pressure on people that compete with their business, whether there is a solid basis or not. They know most people can't afford to fight. In all honesty, seeing that the legal authority cited was weak at best, I believe they're whole reasoning for writing George was in hopes that he would get scared and remove all the posts concerning MuscleTech. And that he would not allow anymore postings on MuscleTech, if it was bad. Obviously that attempt/tactic back-fired, so now I think you'll see them back off, because the fitness boards across the internet are to tightly knit, and they will severely hurt they're business by continuing with this issue.
 
all the kids do take cell-tech. they but into all the hype. I tell them to finish off the bottle and then stop wastng their money on that over priced junk. now that muscle-tech is bringing in all there lawyers I'm going to go out of my way to make sure everyone kows it is junk

well it's like this why is muscletech complaining in the first place? I mean it says their stuff is the best but when people try it find out it sucks they sue you for telling someone else. If their products are all that then they shouldn't be making a big deal out of what we think. I personally have tried celltech and nitrotech but I didn't get very good results from it plus I couldn't afford it..I like the creapure from prolab better than celltech plus it's cheaper too.:toilet:
 
Muscletech is already screwed. Everyone here is gonna tell almost everyone else they know and there will probably be 30 or 40 thousand people that will stop using Muscletech products because of this. It sure stopped me from wanting to try cell-tech, which was on my list of next to try suppliments. Oh, well. Muscletech's loss.
 
Yeah this is just a scare lawsuit. They know they can't sue George or us for using our right of FREE FUCKING SPEECH!! It's like the cable company. They got a hold of the records of people that bought cable boxes from out of state companies. They sent everyone a letter stating that they would take you to court if you didn't settle for 15,000. It was all bullshit because they know they can't sue you for simply purchasing something. They used scared tactics to try and get money from us. They're all full of shit.

That's a damn good idea!!! Besides giving George a hard time, there are plenty of reasons to bring Muscletech down. How about damn near false advertising for one...
 
I'm rather new here but I am appalled by Muscletech and what they are doing. I have never been big on their products and only bought one product of theirs in my life, but I will definitely be boycotting them now and I plan to send them an e-mail letting them know that too.
 
hey i was thinking of buying nitrotech chocolate and has anyone tasted that? is it better than optimum cause i heard even though it was expensive it is good..worth taste
 
I notice the post regarding this on the Anabolic side has disappeared. So I'll say it again here, just in case Muscletech doesn't have me on their "list". I will never purchase their products based solely on this bullshit business practice. I have already begun to tell everyone around me (gym and work) about this action, and all have agreed with me that based shearly on principle we will never again purchase any of their products. Rather than defend their products with facts in this forum, they have chosen to act in such a cowardly manner!!! Is that a company any of us should deal with? I and many I know will not!!!!!!! Everyone associated with this board should tell all in their immediate gym / bodybuilding circles about this BS and let them decide for themselves, Ill bet most will stop using the products... Oh and by the way this has nothing to do with "false advertising", I could care less about their products this is about cowardly business pratices!!!! If your products are so good defend them, tell us why we should spend our hard earned money on them, and give us proof of what you are saying... Don't hide behind lawyers!!!

I shit things that work better then there stuff. When I shit Xenadrine it stills works better then Hydroxyrip-off. It sure is fun taking 12 pills a day.

How can they afford to take this to court when they have to pay all those phony juiced up BB's their contracts so they can endorse shit they wouldn't even let their mom's take.
