Muscle soreness duration

so say you do a chest workout, pushed as hard as you could how long your muscles sore for?? mine have always been like a week or if i've had a month off from the gym and get back into it i can still feel muscle soreness like 10 days later... is this the norm??

It's normal to feel soreness or up to 72 hours at most. If it lasts for more than 5 days, then you should see a physician to have your CPK checked. If it's positive, you may be experiencing rhabdomyolysis from a myopathy. If it's positive, you'll need further workup (aldolase level, urine myoglobin, etc.).

I would urge you to visit a physician to have your CPK checked (while you are sore). You do not want to have rhabdo every time you work out. If you do and you continue to work out so hard, you'll end up with kidney failure.

Carbs generally helps and Glut is the sh*t - honestly. I started doing squats again after 4 months off - did a widowmaker set and literally couldnt walk the rest of the day.

Pounded down 2 x 15g glut and the next day virtually no soreness.

+1 show us ur diet

^^^ seriously cobra? I'm only taking in about 10g a day. Maybe i should bump mine up. This DC training is kicking my ass! What times/doses?

FYI: i currently take in 10g PWO with my waxymaize. Then on cardio days i have 10g in the morning with BCAA while on the threadmill.

honestly my diet is alright, like everyone it could be better i get what i feel is enough carbs, protein i guess i eat a bit much of the bad stuff but is ok i'm not interested in being cut.... the muscle soreness has been that way since i started training 6 years ago. so i figured was normal

Post you chest workout please!

i do omega's chest routine, i only do 6 sets of both db press and flys, but i add 2 sets of cable flys at the end.... but the soreness remains same regardless how i train its only less if i dont train as hard... or go lighter weights

If you are doing omega's routine don't add any more exercises or sets to it! Also post your stats, weight, height, age. For how long do you have been working out?

I don't think you should be sore on omega's chest routine for more than a week. Basically you should be good to go twice per week on it.

What's ur diet - try 20g glutamine, 10 creatine and don't skimp on the PWO carbs (The high reps/low sets nature of Omega's chest workout means its more glycgen depriving than a low volume high weight routine).

The good thing (recovery wise) about Omega's chest routine is the DOMS is purely muscle DOMS and not tendon/joints soreness from explosively pushing the weight.

You could also try some stretching after the chest workout - e.g., ATM I'm incorporating the DC chest stretch of holding DB's in a the bottom part of a fly position for 1 minute. Painful but it may assist recovery.

thanks for ideas i'll give each a try i guess, if a week too long then i'll look into it as an issue i'll try the glutamine for sure i have taken before but i dont think was 20g.... is this taken straight after training or just on training days ??

You can take 10g before and 10 g after. I tend to just put 20g (and 5 leucine) in a water solution and roughly drink it across the workout. I may start putting 30 g WPI in the "intra-workout" shake too.

Though I gotta admit I just been throwin the stuff down when I feel like im gonna be sore. Id say 10g morning, 10g PWO and 10g before bed.
