Muscle-Milk Oats

It is fine just now and then but best to get your complete meals from real food rather then supplements.

If you aren't in the last 8-12 weeks of competition schedule, its fine if the meal ("snack") you are talking about is one where you are scheduled for some carbs. Its basically just pre-packaged oatmeal w/ some protein stuff in it and some flavoring. I'm not a big fan of Muscle Milk simply because it is pricey and has extra shit in it - not bad shit, but just extra shit for what is supposed to be a protein mix. If you are a guy or bulking, go for it. But if I'm going to bother eatign something that is supposed to be a protein supplement, its gonna offer me better use of the fats & carbs allotted in my diet.

Here's the ingredients:
Whole Grain Rolled Oats (with Oat Bran), EvoPro: CytoSport’s Custom Protein Peptide and Amino Acid Matrix Designed to Closely Reflect the Nitrogen Components and Ratios Found in Human Mother’s Milk (Micellar Alpha and Beta Caseins and Caseinates, Whey Concentrates Rich in Alpha-Lactalbumin, Whey Isolates, Whey Peptides, Purified Bovine Colostrum, Glutamine Peptides, Taurine, Lactoferrin), Lean Lipids Trans Fat Free Lipid Complex Selected for Thermogenic and Unique Energy Properties (Canola Oil, Sunflower Oil, Enzyme Engineered Polyunsaturated Long-Chain Vegetable Oils, MCTs, L-Carnitine), Fructose, Maltodextrin, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Modified Food Starch, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Niacinamide, Vitamin A Palmitate, Cyanocobalamin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid.

All great stuff - but the stuff I bolded is excess that I woudln't find in my regular oatmeal + protein mix. It also introduces a couple extra grams of fat & carb that I don't have room for in my scheduled diets. But if you aren't on competition diet and you are scheduled for a carb meal, this will work. Just like everything else that is pre-packaged & flavored, its excess stuff so I'd probably not make it a habit if I am expecting optimized results from an optimized diet.

I didn't notice any calorie information within the nutritional details of the add. That's kinda scarey

Thanks guys, I think I'll stick to the natural stuff. The muscle milk oatmeal was a little too sweet for me too.
