msn.messenger is bogging down my computer at start up...for a LONG time

Something happened last week. Now every time I try to hop on the internet with this 'puter, I can't do anything because msn.mgr (msn messenger) is tying up 99% of my recources according to Windows Task Manager.

Now when 99% of your resources are tied up, it is quite hard to even access Task Manager to shut that bullshit down.

Advice? Serious advice?

Go to Run on the Start Menu and type "msconfig". From there, you can deselect the option to have it automatically load at startup, which should at least allow you to have a functioning computer to do spyware searches, patch downloads or whatever else you might want to try (assuming it's not just poor coding by Microsoft  ). You could also try adjust the processing priority of the program.
