I don't know if if u remember my starvation diet or what not, but I lost 8.5lbs on it and am completely sucked out. I don't get enough sleep, My workouts are taking a beating... the food.. oh god disgusting protein shakes for breakfast lunch and dinner and vegetables...thats it! My metabolism has slowed down soo much. I consumed less than 1000 calories on my day off and my BMR is around 2000 and I didn't loose any weight. Man it sucks. It took off some nice weight though but I won't ever do it again. I guess u can say i told you so but I had to learn it the hard way. So I was wondering hopefully if you can help me set up a ckd diet. I spent 230 dollars on 5 tubs of protein shakes. Such a waste of money..... Anyway I'm ready to learn if you can teach.

Well, I'm not going to go into why you should have listened to me, but again that's life. NO worries, let's move on.

The problem is that a CKD, at this point, if not going to help you until you metabolic rate stabilizes. You need to have 2 refeed days, meaning CHEAT like you NEVER CHEATED before. Eat whatever you want for 2 days, yes given you'll gain a little fat, but that's not your worry. Right now, I'm worried about your body being in starvation/catabolism mode and the leptin levels are very low, while the T4-T3 conversion is probably nonexistant (very low). After the two day CHEAT, you will run a 50% protein/20% carbs/30% (calories based on weight x 12) fat diet for 5 days, then have another refeed for 2 days. But this refeed will be more controlled, you will stick to a HIGH-GI for the 1st day, and LOW-GI for the 2nd day.

From there on, we can work together on setting up a CKD. This time take my word for it, your metabolic rate and thyroid activity is not normal, so this will bring it to it's normal feats and create anabolism.

Mr. X I'm working with this guy from iron curtain labs and I'm going to go on a keto type diet(with your guidance). He says from day 1 to end no carb up days. is there any logic in this? I'm going to listen to every thing you say, but I take his guidance b/c he helped me set up a training program that works. Also he wants me to take a powerful fat burner called ripped now, do you recommend against this?He also said I'm supposed to have less than 30g of carbs but closer to 0. Does that agree with your 20% carb range? Also with your ratios 50/20/30 how do I manage to do this? Should i reread ur post at mesomorph?

What is the point of putting you back in a CATABOLIC state (Ketosis is defined as catabolic due to the Glucagon release) after your starvation. Does not make sense, his science is off. It's like taking a starved human and starving them a little more, just in a different way. I doubt that's healthy.

You might want to re-read the concept, for it is to put you back into a dieting mode while RESTORING proper bodily functions and homeostasis. My friend, this can be very crucial to your health, so please do not take a risk here.

The fat burner is fine, just make sure you are not abusing it.

Just a question for Mr. X....

.... it's not that I don't trust you, I'm just wondering what sort of education/qualifications you have on the subject of dieting? Did you actually go to school for it, or do you just do a lot of reading?

You're clearly much more knowledgable on the subject than the rest of us, and I'm much better off listening to you than anyone else.

I'm just wondering how you came to know so much about dieting?

Oh boy! lol....

Well, Daniel Bishop, I can tell you have I do NOT hold a Ph.D in nutrition. But, I will tell you a few things about me. I do hold a A.A. in chemistry (if education matters), and w/ my past fads I have almost completed graduate course work (21 upper division units out of 33 required) for a B.S. in physical science. Now, for the most part, I have been a personal trainer for years (5 years to be exact, if I remember correctly), and also a nutritionist (as a part time job of course). I have also worked w/ B. Lansford and Dan Duchaine, both of which are very prominent characters of the bodybuilding world. I have learned more from them than anyone else. To give you a ball park of people I've trained is impossible, for just on this board I probably talk to thousands of people and set them up for nutritional success.

However, I'm an accountant, and I love accounting, I hold the highest honorable accounting degree possible, and I plan to stay in the profession. The rest is personal, so I'll leave it at that.

P.S. if I had no education whatsoever, and knew what I know it would not change the info I provide

Mr.X

when somebody has PHD that does not mean that he is a smart guy.
I know many idiots with rich daddies who finished the best schools in the country!

Well, call me old fashioned but I still value education.... all else being equal, I'll much sooner listen to a guy with a Ph.D. than a guy without one.

That being said, some of the most knowledgable people in the world on particular subject have never had a formal education.... and constantly prove the most educated academics wrong and make them look foolish.

But since you have a combination of academic learning, personal experience and have worked with some prominent names, that's enough for me....

.... it's not that I didn't trust your advice beforehand, I was just curious.

Yup,

I hold a Ph.D in accounting, so I do have the research knowledge....lol I can call myself Dr. **

A Ph.D. in accounting?? Wow.... very impressive. What an inspiration you are.

You should call yourself Dr. X.... sounds more evil.

No Dr.X is taken lol...I know....

But I don't care about titles...it's all up to what the person can do not what he/she claims

Mr.X

Hey Bro,

I was once told that it is not the people who read the books that are smart it is the ones that write the books!!

All that said, I would listen to what he "Mr.x" had to say no matter if he never made it past grade school.

What he got to say makes good sense and the information that he has given me has been very helpful. So, 2 thumbs up to the man with a Ph.D. in accounting.:supercool
