Mr Olympia Judging: Is It A Hoax?!?!

I am a freelance writer working on an up-coming article concerning the "Knock Out Rule" as a judging protocol in our sport. Apparently, a competitor must come in *significantly* better (visually "better" as some feel the "point system" that is *supposed* to be used to determine the placings are not being accounted for correctly) than the currently reigning Mr O in order to dethrone him. Recently at the Mr O Press conference, several bodybuilders voiced their opinion on the wayward judging protocol - now its your turn! Please take the time to vote, as the results will be compiled and referenced for my article. Also, feel free to leave any comments about the issue as well.

It's a crock of shit!

I still don't understand how Ronnie looked the best. Yes, he was the biggest, freakiest looking guy, but his legs didn't have very good cuts on them and his stomach-well, let's just say it looks like he's been taking 1000 iu's of GH every day for the past 20 years of his life. Once Weider decides that Ronnie isn't going to be his boy anymore, then his reign will come to an end.

A BIT OF A RANT ON THE IFBB

The Weider organization has made it impossible for bodybuilding to go mainstream. There is all this talk about it being recognized by the International Olympic Committee and so on, but it's just a front for the Weiders. Joe Weider does not want to share professional bodybuilding with anyone and in the end the sport with probably self-destruct because of it.

Pro bodybuilders will have to continue to prostitute themselves or work 40-50 hr work weeks to support themselves as long as the IFBB is run by the current leadership.

This years Olympia press conference seemed to be a step in the right direction. The competitors are tired of being treated like second rate professional athletes. Pro bodybuilding is 2nd to only pro wrestling as the most unpure and fixed sport in our society.

Joe Weider has been fixing the IFBB contests from day 1. Examples of the top of my head: (there are plenty more mind you).

1972 Olympia (Sergio clearly should have beaten Arnold),

1980&1981 Olympia (Arnold's win in '80 and Franco's in'81 were REDICULOUS, a gift from Joe),

1986-1991 Olympia's (Haney cleary won the '84 and '85 O's, but Gaspari and Labrada were robbed during this time period and all 3 competitors should have been sharing the title through '91.)

1996&1997 Olympia (Dorian was way off, no way he should have taken it. Nasser was robbed and will now not get that chance again.)

1998-2001 Olympia ( Ronnie was in great shape in 1997 and then could not repeat that condition. Flex, Shawn, Kevin, and Jay should all have won it once.)

Arnold Classics and NOC's (Politics have ruined these contests. There is about a 10% chance that the best competitor will win.)

Now I understand this all seems like MY OPINION and it is, but all of the mentioned above (and numerous others I left out) are contests that were under SERIOUS scrutiny by all the fans at the time. Fans are not judges, but it only makes sense that the fans can see the unbiased truth pretty well.

The Judging Standards Are Obviously Flawed! We Want Justice!

Yeah its obviously flawed, I'm sure Ronnie is going to win it as long as he competes in it and/or for as long Joe Wieder can make big bucks of his name....

I mean its like 13 champs in 33 years or something like that, strange?

IMO there has been too many occasions where the judges and some very knowledgeable people inside the sport including the fans and even other non-biased pro's were at odds over the placings and the length and consistency of so many champion's reigns is also deeply suspicious - something smells a bit ripe!

The bigger guy won...it has pretty much always been like that. Everything else is secondary. Now whether that is a flaw or not, is up for them (who?) to decide. I think they should just get all the top/ex pro BB's out there, and throw them into a room together until they come out with a constitution dictating the exact rules. Then, one can appeal, if there it is clear that it was fixed.
