Hey, when did you get your mod gig back? Cool!
There are a number of companies that sell tube guitar amp kits. Most of them are replicas of classic amplifiers such as "tweed" Fenders or the 18-watt Marshall. I built an 18-watt Marshall, a replica of the Marshall model #1974, and love it.
A couple of good sources are
www.ceriatone.com and
www.mojomusicalsupply.com. My kit came from Ceriatone, which was just a chassis, meaning that I had to find a cabinet and speaker elsewhere. Ceriatone are in Malaysia, and punch out their own chassis, make their own turret boards, and have the transformers wound locally, but their stuff is very high quality. There doesn't seem to be any cheap Chinese stuff in there, most of the electronic components are US-sourced. Their transformers may be Malaysian, but they're quite good.
If you're serious, there are other kit sources, some companies that specialize in only one or two designs, depending on what sort of amp you're looking for.
Having the "Marshall" kit under my belt, my current project is a replica of the old Vox AC15 amplifier. A kit isn't available, so I've been scrounging parts where I can, but I've already located accurate reproductions of the chassis and faceplate. I hope to begin construction next month.
One thing about guitar amp kits -- most of them don't come with any instructions. You get a box of parts, a schematic, and a wiring diagram, and that's it, you're left to assemble it on your own, meaning you have to come up with your own strategy.
Attached is a picture of my pile of parts before I assembled them:
