If you get a minidisc that will record and you get a good mic you can record shows. I have about 15 gigs of live shows all recorded on minidisc. mp3 players are good but you need to get one with alot of space. I got one for my truck but I am looking for the 30 gig HD before I can load some of my music. Mac makes one called the I-Pod that is really good.
Oh yeah.. if this gets out of hand I am gonna lock it.
i have a minidisc and i love it. get the sony mzr700dpc. the sound is great, it weighs only 4 ounces, fits in your pocket easily, and can record upto 320 minutes on a standard 80 minute disc thanks to the new compression technology by sony. go to www.bizrate.com and do a search for it. it will show the lowest price at over 10,000 online retailers. i think bizrate is the site that does that...well check it out.

I would get an mp3 player then. I am really into music and I like to copy and trade live music.. so the minidisc comes in handy.. but for just listening to music and using it like a walkman..the MP3 player is key. Make sure it has a good bit of space though.
Mini disc have become forgotten but is still pretty cool. But unless you are talking abut the cd/mp3 players, you can hold a lot more tunes for your buck with a minidisc player. I say check the pawn shops if you want one. I've seen the recordable ones for $100 in the pawn shops near me.
