Movie Review: The Wrestler

Caught this at the Chicago film fest on Friday. I've read a lot about Mickey Rourke's performance and he definately lived up to all the hype. As it stands right now it seems like the Oscar is his to lose.

The movie can be summed up as a Wrestling version of Rocky with Marisa Tomei nekkid throughout 50% of the running time.

On a side note, Darren Aronofsky who directed it (along with Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain...one of the best directors alive IMO) stayed for some q&a. Out of 8 questions he answered "next question" to 4 of them. Granted they were shitty questions but he came off like an asshole.

See this movie when its released at Christmas.

Sure you didn't see Before The Devil Knows You're Dead? She did the same in that movie. Not that I was complaining, cause I'd be all over that like jnev at a buffet.

She plays a stripper, and 9 out of the 10 scenes she's in she's doing some type of "performance."

I'd hit it.
