Movie: Artificial Intelligence

Alright EliteFitness Bretherns,

I just came back form AI, which was written and directed by Kuberk (sp?) and Spielberg. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys this movie is AWESOME. By far one of the best movies out this year, if not in the last couple years. I believe this is going to be one of Spielberg's most successful movies up-to-date. The movie gets 2 thumbs up for me. It was sad at times, but in whole a movie that I will probably buy and watch over and over.

I've been seeing the trailers on what little of television I watch these days. It looks like it will be awesome. I'm definitely going to go see it.

The movie is very engrossing at times. Overall, I'd say it's definitely worth seeing. One downside is that it tends to drag a little around 2/3 or 3/4 the way through (kind of like Castaway did).

I just saw A.I.

The only thing good about it was Gigolo Joe and the special effects. The rest of the movie blew chunks ... and as for the ending? Ridiculous!


That said, the previews for the movie "Rat Race" were hilarious!

I'm not so pompous as to say that I'm an intellectual. That said, I enjoy movies that make me "think" just as much as the next guy. Movies that teach me about the world I live in or show me something that I have never seen before grab my attention like no others.

Did you learn something from the movie, Warik? Did the movie make you re-think a position on a certain subject? What was so intellectual about it?

That "falling off track" is exactly what showed how big of a success David was.

I'll try to explain without spoiling anything.

I'm even more disgusted with humanity now than before. Remember the "Flesh Fairs?" That's the Holocaust all over again. So many years into the future and the fools still haven't learned a thing.

What about the pool incident or the scissors? Oh no the evil robot did it... God forbid we ask him why.

That among other things.

What was so intellectual about it?

The fact that the plot is so clear, yet so many people can't understand it. Those same people are those who actually believe that artificial intelligence is impossible and who can't seem to understand that a human being is just as "artificially intelligent" as "Mecha."

Damn that movie ruled... must pre-order the DVD when release date is announced.

C) Regarding the scissors incident, Monica and Henry discussed it afterwards; they knew why he did it. They knew Martin had put him up to it. The issue was examined. I'm comparing the unjust extermination of millions of Jews to the unjust destruction of millions of artificially intelligent robots which, for the most part, could be considered "alive." I guess I should have expected as much, since everyone is offended by everything today.

If you can think of another example of lifeforms being unjustly terminated that wouldn't be considered "a little insulting," then I'd be glad to use it, but then wouldn't YOU be the one who would be "a little insulting" for thinking that one group's struggle is not as significant as another's? Wow... tough decision we have here.

So if we discovered extraterrestrial life in a few centuries that just happened to not be carbon-based, it is not considered alive and it's therefore OK to destroy it and do whatever we wish with it?

The robots were actual THINKING beings. I know this is hard for someone to imagine unless he truly understands the concept of artificial intelligence and understands that "artificial intelligence" is not a couple million "if" statements telling the subject what to do in every event followed by an "else" telling the subject what to do in every other case. The only difference between you and David is the fact that he's a robot and you're organic. You both "think and feel."

Please don't respond with a lame retort like: "it's a movie! David isn't real!" If you'd like, we can wait until a being like David is created and then we can have this argument. Just make the request. =)
