Actually, CD sales are slumping. Remember, never is a really long time. This from BBC News:

"... a 10% drop in sales of compact discs in the US in 2001. The figures, published by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), show that shipments of CDs to retail outlets dropped from 1.08 billion in 2000 to 968.58 million in 2001."

Of course, the story sez the industry blames it on file sharing. If anything, it's because it was a shitty year for music (the industry would never admit it's because of its product but real quick to take credit when it has a great year).
