morning cardio....shake before?

I do cardio about an hour after being awake....its not possible for me to do immediately upon wakening! Should I have a straight whey protein shake as soon as I wake to help preserve muscle during cardio?

I do that, but I'm afraid that being up for a full hour and then doing 45 min of cardio/abs I will be killing some serious muscle....any opinions?
 
An extra hour will hardly have any additional effect on your muscles, just have you shake after and you're good
 
if burning fat is your main goal here have a shake right after.

however, when you wake your body is starving for nutrients....i think if your not doing cardio right away you should have a small shake immediately upon rising. waiting about 2 hours before your first meal is not preferred
 
Load up on EFA's to help with catabolism. 2 tbsp of flax oil or 10 grams of fish oil caps should do the trick.
 
i prefer to have a small protein shake (like 20g whey) and some EFA's/flax/fish oil before morning cardio to help preserve muscle.. it shouldnt affect fat loss
 
there is even research that eating some fruit on an empty stomach will NOT inhibit fat loss and may even help
