This great news!As the most prominent Mormon on this board, I will be glad to discuss this.
First, Mormons do not hate black people. That's absurd.
]The first origins of blacks being "cursed" is in the Bible, not the Book of Mormon. Noah's son Ham was cursed and denied the right to bear the Priesthood. Ham's wife was Egyptus, who had dark skin, so the lineage that had dark skin were denied the privilege of being ordained to the priesthood.
Now, in the Book of Mormon, God cursed the Lamanite people for their excessive wickedness so that others could distinguish them from others.
It's important to note that the descendants of the Lamanites are not ethnically African (Black people) so saying the Book of Mormon talks of a curse about black people is completely false.
At no time in Judeo-Christian history since the time of Noah has a black person been allowed to be ordained to the Priesthood until 1978, when the LDS (Mormon) church announced that God has given the approval to ordain all worthy men, regardless of ethnicity, to be ordained to the Priesthood. In this case, the LDS Church should be commended for restoring this privilege, not condemned.
There have been many black pastors over congregations of different denominations, but none claim to possess priesthood authority, and some even teach that it isn't even necesarry, which is explicitly contradictory to the Bible's teachings.
The fact that your early ancestors were denied the Priesthood is not grounds to assume that just because of that denial, that you are considered a lesser human being and any less loved and important in the eyes of God.
My Uncle lived 2 houses down from me, and I had 2 adopted cousins who are black my same age that I grew up with, so I grew up color blind and have zero prejudice towards anyone because they look different than me.
The church clearly teaches that we are to treat everyone kindly regardless of their race, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or otherwise.
The fact that an individual would do otherwise is in clear violation of the commandments of God according to the LDS Church.
"Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not forgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father—that they should have save it were one wife, and concubines they should have none, and there should not be whoredoms committed among them.
O my brethren, I fear that unless ye shall repent of your sins that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought with them before the throne of God.
Wherefore, a commandment I give unto you, which is the word of God, that ye revile no more against them because of the darkness of their skins; neither shall ye revile against them because of their filthiness; but ye shall remember your own filthiness, and remember that their filthiness came because of their fathers."
I love me some byu football but I love my caffeinated beverages way more.

Yeh........... I wouldn't worry about that too much. I hate to say it and hope no one is Mormon in here but they're some strange strange folks. To explain the weirdness that we all know that have, a guy I know was at the time 30 in good shape and a virgin because of his religion. 100% no bs. They told him he needed to marry this girl that just divorced, also Mormon, that had 4 kids by one guy. They met up and got married like pretty much instantly. 4 kids and the poor guy was a virgin. That's what he got. That's just fucked up. Now the other few kickers was he would pay for the ex husband to fly down to where they were, several states away, for Christmas etc. they went to see ex husband, he stayed youngens and wife went and stayed with the ex husband for the summer while husband stayed home and worked. So less then 2 years later she said its not working and moved back to where ex husband was and they divorced. So I say all that to say this, the religion is jacked up and look what it got him. Just silly..
Exactly. So what this is saying is that even though they were initially cursed because of wickedness of their fathers, their posterity can stand cleaner before God than the "white" people because sin is sin and regardless of skin color God will judge each man according to their own hearts, words and actions, and a man must repent of his sin and baptised to recieve a forgiveness a sin and endure through your entire life trying to live the commandments of god.
One of our creeds is that man is held accountable for his own sin, and not the sin of our fathers, specifically mentioned, Adam's original sin.
