What are you saying, im a commie? im just pragmatic. The reality is free trade is only promoted as long as it benefits the country that endorses it.

http://www.christian-aid.org.uk/news/stories/030708s.htm

The US can't produce cotton at the same price as Africans so the US gov. subsidizes cotton growers so they can lower their prices & remain competitive.

The Steel tariffs were another example. on and on and on.

Why dont you just buy cotton from africans and focus on something else ?

Why dont I buy cotton from Africa? i dont know what you're getting at. You seem to believe its ironic that a republican is anti-free markets but anytime being anti-free markets benefits the US either party will do it. Banning outsourcing is just one example. Steel tariffs are another, cotton subsidies are another. there are probably 10s of other examples of anti-free trade activity under Bush and/or republicans.

"Mr Bush is likely to be lobbied by African leaders angered over US cotton subsidies of $4 billion a year - three times the total US aid budget to Africa"

Fuck that's funny!

I have no problem with your govt. acting in a socialist way, it's just makes me laugh when these folks describe themselves as "free market leaders".

Subsidizing cotton producers doesnt make any sense (same for other areas). By doing this, you basically admit your industry is not competitive. It's just the old "money for votes"...
